He now again is active on another KF Forum that only has the forum interface, no mail list. He is member "Birddog". Here is one of his postings regarding a trip he lead in that red series 6 Kitfox: <http://www.teamkitfox.com/Forums/showthread.php?t=323&highlight=John+King> The TeamKitfox Forum is nicely organized and has a lot of current and former members of the Matronics list. <http://www.teamkitfox.com/Forums> John is a very skilled craftsman and an excellent resource, a fine person. -- Paul A. Franz Registration/Aircraft - N14UW/Merlin GT Engine/Prop - Rotax 914/NSI CAP Bellevue WA In general, the art of government consists of taking as much money as possible from one party of the citizens to give to the other. -- Voltaire (1764) To me, consensus seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects. -- Margaret Thatcher "I trust that the proposed Constitution afford a genuine specimen of representative government and republican government; and that it will answer, in an eminent degree, all the beneficial purposes of society." -- Alexander Hamilton, speech to the New York Ratifying Convention, 1788 "When a business or an individual spends more than it makes, it goes bankrupt. When government does it, it sends you the bill. And when government does it for 40 years, the bill comes in two ways: higher taxes and inflation. Make no mistake about it, inflation is a tax and not by accident." -- Ronald Reagan "It should be your care, therefore, and mine, to elevate the minds of our children and exalt their courage; to accelerate and animate their industry and activity; to excite in them an habitual contempt of meanness, abhorrence of injustice and inhumanity, and an ambition to excel in every capacity, faculty, and virtue. If we suffer their minds to grovel and creep in infancy, they will grovel all their lives." -- John Adams, Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law, 1756 "Would it not be better to simplify the system of taxation rather than to spread it over such a variety of subjects and pass through so many new hands." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to James Madison, 1784 "Without liberty, law loses its nature and its name, and becomes oppression. Without law, liberty also loses its nature and its name, and becomes licentiousness." -- James Wilson, Of the Study of the Law in the United States, 1790 "In addition to an abhorrence of democracy, and the recognition that government posed the gravest threat to liberty, our founders harbored a deep distrust and suspicion of Congress. This suspicion and distrust is exemplified by the phraseology used throughout the Constitution, particularly our Bill of Rights, containing phrases such as Congress shall not: abridge, infringe, deny, disparage or violate. Today's Americans think Congress has the constitutional authority to do anything upon which they can get a majority vote. We think whether a particular measure is a good idea or bad idea should determine passage as opposed to whether that measure lies within the enumerated powers granted Congress by the Constitution. Unfortunately, for the future of our nation, Congress has successfully exploited American constitutional ignorance or contempt." -- George Mason University economics professor Walter E. Williams

That was probably John Kings' plane...ain't it a beauty? I've seen pictures of a similar treatment, where the belly was built up to the level of the Grove gear with a rib or two, then stopped, then continued on the other side of the gear, and tapered off about 12-18" after the gear, to become flush with the belly once again. This creates a trough for the gear to ride in. Maybe some of the guys who have done this modification, and who have pictures, will be kind enough to share with the group? Call it a pay- back or a pay-forward for help received in the past or help you may need in the future. Geez, I feel a group hug coming on.... The small loop on the front strut attach point for one of my wings has been broken off. I do not wish to attempt to replace or repair it, I would like to make a small strap affair of fairly thick/strong aluminum and place it under the bolt, using a longer bolt as required.. Advice? I would use a piece of 4130 if this is the tiedown ring. Even then they can break off. If you tie down safely you run the rope through that and over the strut, but still good to have it strong. You wouldn't even need a loop. Just an appropriately shaped strap of 1/16" stainless steel, maybe an inch wide, with a hole drilled in one end for the attach point under the strut bolt, and a hole in the other end for a tie-down hook. If the hole for the hook is 3/8", and you centered that hole 1/2" in from the end, you would have 5/16" of material surrounding the hole on the tension end.....lots of room for wear due to rocking in the wind while tied down. Stainless steel would not weigh that much more than aluminum, and would wear much longer. You might not even have to lengthen the attaching bolt....depends on the amount of threads showing right now. Kirk, Yes they make one but it is for their application and not NSI. Another Kitfoxer has said he has one and we are talking. Thanks, Leroy
