Hi
I measured for my Kitfox a glide ratio of 12, engine switched off, but
not MTOM.

During Phase I, my KF4-1200 with short wings and the 912UL at idle would
make about 1.5 miles per 1000 feet altitude loss.

Thanks for the information. I may be buying a Kitfox soon. There is a lot
of info about Kitfoxes on the web, I am trying to fill the blanks on a few
items that are not easy to find.
A few more questions:
. What type of engine do you have?
. What was the speed at that 12:1 ratio?

That's about 8:1 ...
At what speed?
Thanks,

With the short wings, about 65-70 mph.

Here is some info on a filter that I took off a plane this year.
No problem with the tanks but the gunk that collected in the paper filter.
I personally think that if you are using paper filters that I would be very cautious.
It is ethanol/water or other junk that is making a mess of these ?
I use gascolator and have no problems at all with it or my glass filters with
plastic screens.

I have over 800 hours in my Kitfox in last few years alone with ethanol gas and
NO KREEM -- go figure !!

become sticky or difficult to move about every two years. I have been
using auto gas WITHOUT ETHANOL, flying 60 hours per year about an hour at
a time, sumping before each flight. No crud in the in-line glass filters
with plastic filter elements or gascolator between annuals
The last new CAV 110 leaked almost immediately because the small "o" ring
seemed to swell and come out of its grove.
Lockwood Aviation the Kodiak Rotax shop in Sebring by the way also
recommends against paper filters in their Rotax courses.
Any suggestions on the sump drains folks?

I never check my wing tanks sumps.
I fell out in my hand about 5 years ago and I put in epoxy and it never leaked
since. I afraid to touch other one in fear it leaks.
It not much of a sump anyhow on those tanks.
I have inline glass filter from wingtanks prior to main tank. And a gascolator
before fuel pump.
Maybe I just lucky ? Working on my second thousand hours in this Kitfox IV now
!!

Subject: | Model 2 airspeed indicator |
Had to replace out my airspeed indicator. Original equipment in mine is factory
supplied by Denney with correct color markings and Kitfox logo on the face of
the instrument. I'd love to get one of the OEM type as the new one goes up
to 140 mph and isn't as accurate, especially in the low speed ranges, but haven't
been able to find one. I can put color tapes on the glass face of the new
one to make it legal but that's pretty tacky. So, I'm left with either finding
one of the OEM types or getting the dial on the new one custom treated with
the color bands around the outside of the scale.
Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks,
Chris

Easy fix! Replace the original "O" rings with VITON (material that they are
made of) "O" Rings. Works on 3 aircraft at our local airport using 10%
ethanol. No leaks, or other problems with sump drains in the last 2 years
on these aircraft. Cost was 6 cents per VITON "O" ring at a local gasket
supply house.

Chris,
I have exactly what you are looking for from my 1992 project kit. I have
upgraded, so can't make a trade, but drop me a note off list and we can get
together on this. lcfitt@sbcglobal.net
