There is a lot of info about Kitfoxes on the web, I am trying to fill the blanks on a few items that are not easy to find. A few more questions: . What type of engine do you have? . What was the speed at that 12:1 ratio? R.W. ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 08:15:12 AM PST US Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Kitfox IV glide ratio? No problem with the tanks but the gunk that collected in the paper filter. I personally think that if you are using paper filters that I would be very cautious. It is ethanol/water or other junk that is making a mess of these ? I use gascolator and have no problems at all with it or my glass filters with plastic screens. I fell out in my hand about 5 years ago and I put in epoxy and it never leaked since. I afraid to touch other one in fear it leaks. It not much of a sump anyhow on those tanks. I have inline glass filter from wingtanks prior to main tank. And a gascolator before fuel pump. Maybe I just lucky ? Original equipment in mine is factory supplied by Denney with correct color markings and Kitfox logo on the face of the instrument. I'd love to get one of the OEM type as the new one goes up to 140 mph and isn't as accurate, especially in the low speed ranges, but haven't been able to find one. I can put color tapes on the glass face of the new one to make it legal but that's pretty tacky. So, I'm left with either finding one of the OEM types or getting the dial on the new one custom treated with the color bands around the outside of the scale. Anyone have suggestions? Works on 3 aircraft at our local airport using 10% ethanol. No leaks, or other problems with sump drains in the last 2 years on these aircraft. Cost was 6 cents per VITON "O" ring at a local gasket supply house.
