I removed wings and "sloshed out" flaking off Kreem with MEK and then re-sloshed with a 50-50 mix of Kreem and MEK. If anyone wants the details on how I accomplished this, feel free to PM or e-mail...not necessarily a difficult task, but there were a lot more things to plan and consider than I first thought. As recommended in the forum, I replaced the existing fuel lines (the mil-H-6000) with automotive R-9 5/16" tubing and here I made a mistake that nearly cost me an off field landing. I thought I was as careful as I could be to install the fuel lines exactly as they were before(I'm not the orig builder) since the plane had flown 133 hours. The difference is that the new tubing is much softer and flexible, but more subject to "pinching off" if a bend is too narrow. Bottom line, the left fuel line pinched off behind where it comes thru the fabric and was not supplying enough fuel to keep the engine running, so when the right tank got low, then engine sputtered and would have quit(about 7 miles from airport). At this point I didn't know why I wasn't getting enough fuel, the sight gauge in the left tank showed plenty, but I realized the right gauge did not, so I put the plane in a nose high, right wing high slip causing the remaining fuel in the right wing to flow to the outlet going to the header tank which allowed me to make it back to the airport. After landing, I inspected the system, folded the left wing, and discovered the "pinched fuel line". Even though I thought I was being careful and double checked everything when I re-installed the wings/fuel system, I obviously made a very stupid mistake, and am posting this just on the chance that it might save someone else a similar problem. Thanks to everyone here that posts as this forum has been extremely helpful to me.
