Dave - I also have a four and went for years without upgrading.- However, I thin k the compamy reccommends it and I finally chose to upgrade just so I could quite thinking about it. - Mike 1996 Kitfox IV --- On Thu, 9/3/09, Dave G <occom@ns.sympatico.ca> wrote: From: Dave G <occom@ns.sympatico.ca> Subject: Kitfox-List: Stabilzer struts upgrade? HI, I am in the final steps of repairing my model IV. I notice that my ssta b struts, supplied with a skystar/denny crossover kit from '91 have the sma ller 3/16 attachements. Is this an issue worth attention, should I upgrade to the 1/4" ones? - Dave Goddard KF IV 1050 / 582 / Warp =0A=0A=0A

    From: "carlisle" <carlisle_99@yahoo.com>
Anybody ever replaced their starter through the housing on the firewall? You know. The aluminum box that comes through the firewall from the engine compartment and contains the starter. Mine appears to have gone out on my Model 2, 582 and I don't relish removing the engine just to get at the starter. I also don't relish paying retail price for a new starter (~$800). Any suggestions there? Thanks, Chris Sioux Falls, SD Model 2, 582 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=271649#271649

Chris, Yeah, $800 is outrageous for a starter! This is what I bought (and have yet to install): http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/skytecRX12.php 10% more torque than the HD starter with a 10% reduced current draw, all at the same weight as stock .. and for $260 .. looks like a winner to me! Now this is for a 912/914 so I'm not sure if it'll fit your 582 but who knows? As far as installing it, I'm not sure - my sprag clutch broke so I've got to tear the engine out anyway :x Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=271650#271650
