I just did a quick N# search and it is a Terral Olen C T-2. Pics of it are in the data base. I sent the seller a nice little question... There is NOTHING Kitfox about that plane. The FAA reports the N number as "ATTENTION! This aircraft's registration status may not be suitable for operation" and then at http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=2165Q that the number is also assigned to a Cessna 185. The aircraft model is registered as "T-2" and no mention of Kitfox. I reported it as possibly fraudulant on eBay, let's see what they do about it... It's a "T-2" what ever that is, according to the FAA registration. Link to Registration (http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=2165Q) FAA also states that the registration status is "in Question", meaning all of the paperwork is not in order. -------- Thanks, Av8r3400 Kitfox Model IV-1200 W/912UL & IVO Kitfox Model IV-1050 W/912UL & Warp Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=272676#272676

Luis, It is a pain that's for sure but after you do it a few times it gets easier (like carb syncing) I have had to purge my system several times. Have never had a problem with air in my lifters so far but I guess it can happen. In the Lockwood course Dean (my instructor) said to put a hammer against your chest and lean your body heavily against the lifter arm with the handle of the hammer on the arm where it meets the lifter rods.(hammer head on your chest) This should compress the hydraulic lifters enough so that if there is any air in them it should compress enough to show up in excessive tappet clearances. Just follow the Rotax instructions and it will lead you thru the procedure. Dick Maddux Rotax 912 UL Milton,Fl

Not that I can find. Searching the FAA database directly for N2165Q <http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=2165Q> "This aircraft's registration status may not be suitable for operation. Please contact the Aircraft Registration Branch as 1-866-762-9434 for additional information." And searching the Landings database <http://www.landings.com/evird.acgi?pass=144766799&ref=-&mtd=41&cgi=%2Fcgi-bin%2Fnph-search_nnr&var=0&buf=66&src=_landings%2Fpages%2Fsearch_nnr.html&nnumber=2165q> N-number : N2165Q Aircraft Serial Number : 5871 Aircraft Manufacturer : TERRAL OLEN C Model : T-2 Engine Manufacturer : VOLKSWAGEN Model : CONVERSION Aircraft Year : 1991 Owner Name : REGISTRATION PENDING Owner Address : PO BOX 1174 ARIZONA CITY, AZ, 85223-1174 Type of Owner : Individual Registration Date : Not Specified Airworthiness Certificate Type : Experimental Approved Operations : Amateur Built There is no reference to it being a Kitfox at all. The aircraft pictured in your advertisment on eBay is not a Kitfox. Would you mind providing some background information on the aircraft? Are you the current owner? It would appear that the aircraft is not registered at all. Would you explain the status? A little history of the aircraft would be nice starting with the builder who looks to be Olen C. Steve, Since you are "mearly a novice at this hobby", maybe you should "watch your mouth" and listen to those who obviously know much much more than you do. What you have pictured on ebay is in no way a Kitfox, no matter what you say your paperwork says. Maybe you got hosed when you bought it, but please don't try to pass that thing off as a Kitfox. Luis, I just reviewed the Service Letter and the procedure outlined is for new engine installation and "reworked engines". After an oil change, I would follow the first step and pressurize the tank and rotate through until I found clean new oil in the return line into the take up bottle. The valve covers off? I think that would come under the new or reworked engine where all oil has been drained off. I doubt you could drain all oil from the engine by simply disconnecting the oil tank, unless you removed all hoses and let is sit that way for a day or two. Just my take on it, but I think the lifter check would be advisable if you were checking a new engine or one that had extensive work on the engine. And this is just my opinion, but if it was my engine, I would purge with the air into the tank , Run the engine to check pressures etc. and then go fly.
