    Subject: Kiev Prop
As mentioned on this list previously, I have been particularly enamored with the Kiev prop since I first saw it on a Highlander. Its a beautiful prop with semi scimitar blades. I have been waiting to hear about the results of a test conducted by the SE rep for Paradise aircraft (Brazilian SLSA) who is a friend of mine. Paradise offers their aircraft with the Warp prop but wanted to try some others in the interest of efficiency. They tried the new Sensenich propeller but only realized a mile or two diff in speed and it was a little rougher running than the Warp. The current prop they are testing is the Kiev. Preliminary reports are showing a 10mph increase in cruise speed with turbine like smoothness in similar flying conditions as the Warp. Well, that was enough for me, so I ordered one. I am currently writing down all the numbers, etc that I am getting from my tapered tip Warp prop. I will compare the two when I have it installed and report the change, if any here. Given both airspeed and rate of climb are off in the same direction I believe this points, as Guy suggested, to a static port problem. -------- Dorsal Series 7 Trike (building) 912S Warp Drive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=281619#281619

    From: "WurlyBird" <james.t.trizzino@us.army.mil>
So after a month and a half of waiting for the mail as well as the temps being in the teens and twenties my "new" propeller has arrived. So now I really want to get this thing put on and signed off so I can go enjoy the afternoon. Can anyone tell me the mounting specifications for an IVO medium 3 blade being mounted as a 2 blade? I did a quick search and can't find the info. I want to be sure I am mounting it properly and everything is torqued accordingly. Thanks for the help. Someone can delete this whole thread if they want. -------- James Kitfox 3 / 582 / GSC prop The ink is still drying on my new certificate Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=281645#281645

James, IVO medium as straight bolt on application. on a 582 you can only sue 2 blades and use the 2 extra blocks that should be supplied. Set Take off RPM for about 6200 to 6500 RPM STATIC and wide open tied down. Also since temps are colder verify that your needles are adjusted full rich ( the clip should be on the lowest notch on your needles ) Stock needles will be marker 11G2 I think ------- Call me if you need help PS i got the parcel you sent many thanks. -------- Rotax Dealer, Ontario Canada http://www.cfisher.com/ Awesome *New Forum * http://rotaxaircraft.com/forum/ Realtime Kitfox movies to separate the internet chatter from the truth http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=kitfoxflyer Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=281646#281646

some of the Kitofx ASI are notorious for readings........ mine read low --stalls at 27 (some think that is right ? NOPE) MIne cruises at 105 mph -wrong again about 90 to 92 .......... I have inside static port ........... try opening door and see what happens then stick arm out door and what ASI -------- Rotax Dealer, Ontario Canada http://www.cfisher.com/ Awesome *New Forum * http://rotaxaircraft.com/forum/ Realtime Kitfox movies to separate the internet chatter from the truth http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=kitfoxflyer Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=281648#281648

Holy cow! In all of my time modifying cars, trucks, bikes, and anything else I could get my hands on I have never seen a single bolt on component that could so drastically improve performance. Admittedly my GSC needed a little more bite to it but I did not want to mess with that process, but my KF never cruised any faster then 65-70 and today I was cruising at 80, verified by GPS in multiple directions, at a lower RPM. All my temps are great and it even sounds a lot quieter/better tone. Take off role is about the same, 150 ft, and climb is about 2-300 fpm better. I think. I have trouble NOT doing a zoom climb to pattern altitude which is all the higher I ever get. I still need to take out a little pitch because I can barely get over 6200 in any configuration besides a dive so i expect take off to get a little shorter. More to come but for now I will say that the IVO is the best investment I have made for flying since I bought the plane. -------- James Kitfox 3 / 582 / GSC prop The ink is still drying on my new certificate Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=281764#281764

James good stuff. Like i said -start at 6200 to 6500 on the IVO static and adjust from there. You might even get away with going a bit more rpm. What are you using for a Tach ? A tiny tach is cheap and accurate. Glad to hear you finally un leased power to closer where it should be. -------- Rotax Dealer, Ontario Canada http://www.cfisher.com/ Awesome *New Forum * http://rotaxaircraft.com/forum/ Realtime Kitfox movies to separate the internet chatter from the truth http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=kitfoxflyer Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=281782#281782
