Subject: | Re: Wingtank.com tank install, ongoing |
Very timely, My plane was damaged by a taylorcraft running into it while parked
in its stall. Very little damage to the plane just the prop which was sent
to the manufacturer to get checked out. Since it would be down for a little while
I thought I would rib stitch the wings. Took the wings off Friday and having
them off I thought it would be a good idea to look in the tanks. Using a
digital scope I looked in the tanks and found no peeling Kreem, but did find
large globs of resin. It appears during the layup of my circa 1992 tanks that
a large drips of resin was on the top of the tanks and now has broken into several
chunks and is floating around in the gas. The other tank also has resin
chunks in it. Soooooooo I've been wondering how the install is going? Were you
able to insert the new tanks in to the existing tank by just cutting the top
off? Did you leave the bottom and sides for structure.
Thanks,
Nick W.
