Pete, I just went thru the same thing and 4 of my studs came out. I ordered new studs and nuts from LEAF. The studs are supposed to be put back with Locktite 2701 and torqued to 70 inch lbs( I believe) Check the torque as specified in the parts manual. I called Fastenall, our local supplier of Locktite, and he did not have the 2701. He called Locktite and found out the 2701 was a special mixture and was very expensive. The Locktite guy told him that 271 was very close chemically so that is what I bought. Theoretically you are supposed to replace the exhaust nuts when you remove them. My exhaust nuts were stuck to the stud as yours were and I had thought about just applying the Locktite and screwing them back in but they were pretty grody so I decided to do the right thing with new studs and exhaust nuts. Be sure you follow the Rotax SB on torque's and exhaust flange clearances. I don't recall the number but you will find it @ _rotax-owner.com_ (rotax-owner.com) Dick Maddux Fox 4 912UL Milton,Fl

Deke, That is the tubing I am using. Order enough so that if you snag the internal liner putting it over the barbed fitting, you can replace the piece of tubing. I snagged the liner on the first piece I used but was able to successfully get the others on by polishing the barb and using a silicone grease product (very sparingly) to lubricate the barb. Deke, Primers are used on 912's. I have one on mine and the starting carbs(choke) are wired in the off position. I bought the plane this way from a guy in Mass. I had thought about reactivating the choke system (in fact I bought the cables, etc) because I certainly wouldn't need the primer here in Florida...Right? However, the system works so well for start, I decided to keep it. The only disadvantage I can see is not having the choke available to troubleshoot possible carburetor problems. Marco, I see you are using a clutch on the 582. I thought about this since it is supposed to make low RPM idle very nice but I decided against it since I would have no way to manually advance the engine for checking the cylinders, hand propping, etc. Have you found this to be an issue or does it not affect your flying? -------- James Kitfox 3 / 582 / GSC prop The ink is still drying on my new certificate Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=287645#287645

James, - I haven't had the occasion to need to-manually advance the engine for ins pection or otherwise. I just "bump" the starter. The clutch does make it st art easier and "idle" much smoother although I've had problems rejetting an d adjusting the idle low enough (below 2500 rpm) to keep the prop from enga ging. As soon as it's warmed up, it idles at about 2500 and the prop spins away. I've learned to live with it. - My main concern is the engine out situation, drag-and drastically increas ed sink-rate that I expect will result from a free-wheeling prop. One of th ese days I'll climb to-about 5000-agl (over the field), cut power and d iscover exactly what happens. Alot of people have speculated on this but I don't think we have any real data on it yet. - Marco Menezes N99KX Model 2 582-90 C-Box 3:1 w/clutch Hersey, MI --- On Mon, 2/22/10, WurlyBird <james.t.trizzino@us.army.mil> wrote: From: WurlyBird <james.t.trizzino@us.army.mil> Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: 582 Start Up Procedure l> Marco, I see you are using a clutch on the 582.- I thought about this sin ce it is supposed to make low RPM idle very nice but I decided against it s ince I would have no way to manually advance the engine for checking the cy linders, hand propping, etc.- Have you found this to be an issue or does it not affect your flying? -------- James Kitfox 3 / 582 / GSC prop The ink is still drying on my new certificate Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=287645#287645 le, List Admin. =0A=0A=0A
