Louie, You got it right. I have a suggestion for you though. Why don't you check out _highwing llc_ (highwing llc) for a "throttle link" You attach this little jewel to the back of one of your cables at the back of the bellcrank arm and you can sync your carbs without messing with the lock nuts at the carb end. It's GREAT. I can sync my carbs in about a minute. You could even sync them while you are flying if you could figure out a way to read the vacuum at each carb. The throttle link moves the cable on one of the carbs a little at a time as you turn the knob. You match the throttle opening perfectly from one carb to the other(use gauges of course) then safety wire the knob in position if you like.It is unlikely to move because of design. Then if you really want a nice setup you attach a counter balance spring to the bellcrank (auto parts store throttle return spring...long) and no longer do you have the carb springs trying to pull your throttles wide open. You can adjust your throttle position with no pressure(ala: a normal production aircraft) by adjusting the counterbalance spring length and pressure on the bellcrank where the throttle cable attaches at the nut.(center of bellcrank) I have the other end of my spring hooked at the throttle quadrant. IF a cable were to break and one carb go wide open you just knock the long return spring off at its throttle quadrant attach point (lower instrument panel) with your hand and you are back to normal. A little confusing but I know but you will figure it out. I just got tired of the bouncing on landing (rough grass field) sometimes causing the palm of my hand to hit the center knob of the Vernier throttle. Then the throttle would advance at the wrong time and I would end up going around because of limited runway left. The counter balance spring keeps the throttle where I put it. Just an idea. I know a lot of Avid owners follow this list. (I'm one.) If you are thinking about flying your Avid without the lift strut wood fairings, you should reconsider. The fairings are not optional equipment. They add strength to the strut under compression loads. See AD (Avid Directory) #7, available under the files section of the Avid Yahoo group. That AD covers mandatory installation of flaperon counterweights and strut speed fairings. Regards, Wes [quote="jose_m_toro(at)yahoo.com"]Ron: I'm not surprised. Mine was worse...by far. Again, I strongly recommend NOT to use a fairing. Like yours, mine had wood fairing. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=293049#293049

Wes:=0A=0AI don't recall a similar AD for the Kitfox II.- My former Kitfo x II has been flown without fairings since 2007.- No problem.- However, it seems to me like a good idea to order the model II struts using the wid er tubes, like in the Kitfox IV.=0A=0ABest regards!=0A=0AJos=E9=0A=0A=0A=0A =0A________________________________=0AFrom: Wes Bender <bender_wes@yahoo.co m>=0ATo: kitfox-list@matronics.com=0ASent: Mon, April 5, 2010 12:04:16 PM =0ASubject: Kitfox-List: Re: Model 2 Kitfox wing struts=0A=0A--> Kitfox-Lis t message posted by: "Wes Bender" <bender_wes@yahoo.com>=0A=0AI know a lot of Avid owners follow this list.- (I'm one.)- If you are thinking about flying your Avid without the lift strut wood fairings, you should reconsid er.- The fairings are not optional equipment.- They add strength to the strut under compression loads.- See AD (Avid Directory) #7, available un der the files section of the Avid Yahoo group.- That AD covers mandatory installation of flaperon counterweights and strut speed fairings.=0A=0ARega rds,=0A=0AWes=0A=0A=0A=0A[quote="jose_m_toro(at)yahoo.com"]Ron:=0A=0A=0AI 'm not surprised.- Mine was worse...by far.- Again, I strongly recommen d NOT to use a fairing. =EF=BDLike yours, mine had wood fairing.=0A=0A =0A=0A=0ARead this topic online here:=0A=0Ahttp://forums.matronics.com/view - - - - - - - - - - - - -Matt Dralle, List Admin. ======0A=0A=0A

I flew mine without the strut fairings for awhile, but I have alot heavier tubes. This biggest surprise to me when I put the fairings on was the increase in climb rate of about 250 FPM. the extra 5 mph or so in cruise was not that big a deal to me, but I liked the climb increase! -------- DO NOT ARCHIVE Leonard Perry aka SNAKE Soldotna AK Avid "C" / Mk IV 582 (147 hrs and counting on the rebuild) IVO IFA Full Lotus 1450 #1 snake oil salesman since 1-22-2009 I would rather die trying to live, than to live trying not to die.... I've flown my Model 2 for almost 20 yrs without the fairings without a problem. Does anyone know if replacing with the larger diameter tubing changes the maximum gross weight? An extra 100 lb (current gross is 950) would open up a whole new world of sharing for me. Chris Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=293150#293150
