Subject: | Re: Old Jab - thoughts |
I appreciate it, but it's not the health of the top-end I have any concern over.
I'm sure the compressions are fine. It's the low-end I think *might* be a
concern.
My last mechanic would tell me at least for Lycs that when the engine was past
it's time TBO (10 years), it should be valued as needing a major.
Other than that there is the issue that the early jabs had many problems. What
the previous answer was trying to do, in fact, in replacing the rods & jugs was
eliminate the common problems. I was wondering if there might be others I
wasn't aware of. I know they made many changes to those early engines.
Thanks again for the replies.

If I were you, I'd ask this question on the Matronics List for Jabiru
engines....jabiruengine-list@matronics.com...., or the Yahoo group
whose address is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jabiruengines/
There are more knowledgeable people in a group dedicated to a
specific subject, this one being Jabiru engines, and you might even
get an answer from one of the two Jabiru dealers in the United
States. No offense intended to the fine Kitfox folks, but they tend
to be Rotax knowledgeable, and not so much on the Jabirus. Or just
email Pete Krotje at: pete@usjabiru.com
And even as brilliant as I am, I wouldn't know how to answer your
question. : )

Does anyone have the King A&P course on DVD that they want to sell? I don't need
it for testing so it doesn't have to be the latest version. Just looking to
get educated on some topics. Please respond direct to brentbidus@juno.com with
how old it is and how much you will sell for.
Thanks,
Brent Bidus
