While the gearbox is off, check the run out of the crankshaft. As I recall .002 is the limit, but check the Rotax heavy maintenance manual to be sure. -------- Joel Mapes Kitfox 5 912 ULS Aerocomp amphibs Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=298504#298504 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 01:38:35 PM PST US From: "david van lanen" Subject: Kitfox-List: Series-7 SS Streamlined Strut Fairings Hello, I am new to this list. I am considering building a Series-7 SS. I have been studying the aircraft, and the kit options, determining what I would order in a kit. I visited with another builder and looked at the streamlined strut fairings available as a kit option. They seemed rather heavy to me. I'm curious - has anyone found a good way to install lighter-weight streamlined strut fairings? I know that there are aluminum strut fairings available for ultralights, but I don't see how you could install them over the jury strut brackets, or how you would secure them in place. Just curious. Thanks, Dave Van Lanen Madison, WI ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 06:36:59 PM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: Series-7 SS Streamlined Strut Fairings From: "Av8r3400" A friend of mine used the solid wood farings supplied in the kit, but he drilled 2" lightening holes through their length. He collected over 5# of wood chips... You cover the farings with fabric anyway, why not give them the swiss cheese look? -------- Thanks, Av8r3400 Kitfox Model IV-1200 W/912UL & IVO Kitfox Model IV-1050 W/912UL & Warp Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=298551#298551 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 07:32:10 PM PST US From: "Glenn Horne" Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Re: Series-7 SS Streamlined Strut Fairings Go to Lowes get you some stryfoam molding that goes around windows and doors. Glue two pieces together and router out the large end to match the tubing, glue it on and cover with fabric. Light and looks good. Did my Model; II like that. Very strong also.
