Subject: | Jabiru on a Kitfox |
I'm currently buying a Classic IV with a Jabiru engine mount (haven't got it yet
for it is still in the States - looking for a way to get it overhere).
Does any of you have any experience on that combination?
Any information would be great, for there isn't any from Jabiru Australia nor SkyCraft's

I also have the Jabiru 2200 on a Mod. four.- I get about the same perform
ance as I did with the Rotax 582 with just a bit higher speeds, around 80-8
5 mph cruise.- The largest difference was going from a three blade prop o
n the 582 to a two blade prop on the Jabiru.- When I pulled the power bac
k on the 582 I would really slow down.- With the jabiru the plane seems t
o want to float much more.

Our High Valley Resort trip starts in two days. It's still an open invitation to anyone wanting to join us. All the details are available at: http://www.enotam.net/eNOTAM/Temporary/High_Valley_Resort_05-10.pdf
In my original post, I included links to my YouTube video showing our Vixen and
a Thundergull flying at High Valley. ...I'm feeling a little sad that no one
has commented on them. [Crying or Very sad]
OH well...It's all good...and we'll hope to see you at High Valley. :D

Hans-
I'll just post numbers from a flight today with my Jabi-fox/ Kit-a-roo.
**********
Today I answered a guy (privately) who asked about the TBI on my
plane and if I had to constantly adjust it, or could I just set it to
lean of peak (or just an economy setting) and forget it.
So for kicks, I went for a 2.4 hour, 234 mile flight and just set the
engine to where it ran well, and well lean of peak. As you can see, I
averaged about 100 mph, went around a larger than 50-miles-per-side
square, and the fuel flow meter looked like it was stuck on 2.9 gph,
upping 4 or 5 times to 3.0, and about the same number of dips to 2.8.
************
This is using a Rotec TBI, but similar numbers have been reported
using the Bing carb that comes with the engine. The benefit of using
the TBI is to be able to set the mixture "lean of peak EGT", which
you'll hear more about as the years go on and people become educated
about it.

Subject: | Re: New Start Up Procedures |
With engine not running, I had fuel leaking from one carb on my 503. Spent 2 hours
trouble-shooting. It turned out to be running in from the primer line. I think
my first move will be to remove the primer. Should I just cap the points
where the lines entered the carburators?
