It is installed and bolts tightened. I was surprised that while fitting the cowl, the oil tank needed a bit of surgery. I was thinking of cutting a corner off the bottom and having a welder weld it up again. I noticed a small dent on the bottom corner and it gave me the idea that I might be able to do a little body and fender work on it to get it to fit. I did exactly that and used some micro and epoxy to smooth it out and then painted the bottom bowl my finish color to hide the fix. I am making the donuts, but I had two miscasts so only have four to date. I think I still have enough of the rubber for the remaining four. I used the light weight engine stand from Harbor Freight. I made a jig that mated to it and if you would like it, I can send it down. It allows for two axis alignment - pitch and bank. I did weld the rotating tube in the stand for stability. I also found some cone shaped things that I used to locate the donut rings while welding. You can have those as well. They won't burn up with the welding. Photos attached. From: "Dorsal" Thanks, this is great, was just about to start typing one up. Would you mind if I generalized this (removing any specific reference to you or your plane) and put it in the "other sites" reference section? -------- Dorsal Series 7 Trike (building) 912S Warp Drive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=301669#301669 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 12:58:45 PM PST US From: "Lowell Fitt" Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Engine Mount Sorry, this was to go direct. ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 02:54:00 PM PST US From: Lynn Matteson Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Engine Mount Not again, Lowell ? : ) Lynn Matteson Kitfox IV Speedster, taildragger Jabiru 2200, #2062, 976 hrs (since 3-27-2006) Countdown to 1000 hrs~24 to go(36 days to go) Sensenich 62"x46" Wood (summer) Electroair direct-fire ignition system Rotec TBI-40 injection Status: out of service do not archive On Jun 18, 2010, at 2:57 PM, Lowell Fitt wrote: > > > > Sorry, this was to go direct. > > ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 02:59:17 PM PST US From: "fox5flyer" Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Engine Mount Most of us have done it, Lowell...more than once. He said that all tail wheel aircraft insurance is going up. Even with all my ratings and clean record, 500 plus tail wheel time makes no difference. Has anyone else had this call?
