I have an oil leak though. There is a black, tarry like substance on the exhaust side of the engine which appears to be coming from the casing somewhere, maybe between the cylinders. Does anyone have an idea of what this is and where it could be coming from. The engine is new but was upgraded in 2003 by a rotax dealer. The previous owner said it had preservative oil on the internal parts. Could this be some kind of preservative leaking. Not really sure if all required. So you may not need some of those details. Also too much detail may obscure a more necessary inclusion. If someone sees something missing I would be happy to hear and include. I have a similar question as George. I have noticed alot of information in recent publications regarding the pilots operating handbook. I'm beginning to question what I have. I also would like to look at a sample POH to compare. --- On Tue, 6/15/10, Kitfox George wrote: >From: Kitfox George >Subject: Kitfox-List: Pilots operating handbook for a model 7 or? >To: kitfox-list@matronics.com >Date: Tuesday, June 15, 2010, 8:10 PM > > > > >Doe someone have a POH for 6,7 or SS? > George >Kitfox Sport Model (7+)- Rotax 914- almost, but not yet! >do not archive > > el=nofollow target=_blank>http://www.matronics.com/Navigator?Kitfox-Listet=_blank%3Ehttp://forums.matronics.com llow target=_blank>http://www.matronics.com/contribution ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 05:37:37 AM PST US From: W Duke Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Re: Pilots operating handbook for a model 7 or? Thanks, this is great, was just about to start typing one up. Would you mind if I generalized this (removing any specific reference to you or your plane) and put it in the "other sites" reference section? -------- Dorsal Series 7 Trike (building) 912S Warp Drive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=301669#301669 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 05:55:28 AM PST US From: Jim_and_Lucy Chuk Subject: RE: Kitfox-List: Rotax 582 oil leak Sounds like a leaking exhaust manifold to me. I've seen the same thing on my 582 when I had one. Engine was also running rich at the time. I understand the cg of the floats should be exactly aligned with the cg of the plane. I only know the cg with the kitfox gear installed. Does anyone know the approximate weight of kitfox model 2 tube gear with brakes. The tires are approx. 8 lbs. each. Also how much is the cg moved forward when main and tail gear is removed. The wheel and tire are ahead of the cg, but most of the steel in the gear legs is aft. Does this all offset or is there a cg change when gear is removed? All advice appreciated.
