Recently while flying my Kitfox II 582 I encountered flaperon flutter and
want any information related to that. I was making steep turns on a gusty
hot day. As I rolled out, the stick started shaking and I could see the
flaperons oscillate about 8-10 times per second. The flutter was
transmitted thru the controls to the other side. The outer wing was
flapping like a bird. I reduced power and slowed down and the flutter
stopped. I have the standard bobweights installed on the outer ends as
plans call for.
Anyone else experienced this? I was making about 60 mph when it happened.
There is no noticeable slack in the controls, and the flaps are not loose on
the shaft.
