Thanks everyone for your help on this one. I re-weighed the plane and it came
in almost exactly as before for empty weight. When I re-measured the tail wheel
moment I discovered that I had measured 1 1/2" to long. After re-running
the calculation it is now just under the max aft CG at max gross of 950 lb.
Because the plane is 25lb heavy I guess I'll have to lose weight myself to compensate.
Cheers
Ken

Ken,
-
My Model 2 came in at a "heavy" 535 lbs empty. (alot of shiny Aerothane-a
board). Since-doing-W&B-I've added a cargo pod and other-gear that
brings it up to about 550.- With myself and full fuel (13 US gal) there's
still enough left for a 170 lb passenger. It flies great, especially solo.

Thanks, Ted.....now that I've wound down from the hectic last two
weeks, I do think I'll write down some of the interesting things that
happened prior to, and during the race and the aftermath....that'll
be a lot more fun than trying to get my house and yard back into "pre-
race" shape. : )

Lynn,
Great story, even with as you say a "hollow victory" I'm sure you still had
a great time, I know I would have, makes me wish I had my Outback up and
flying, would have loved to joined the race. A friend and I found ourselves
tied down in Shawano Wisconsin one year waiting out a storm on our way into
Oshkosh, fortunately the FBO there had a nice set of couches for us to wait
out the storm on.
I made it to Oshkosh this year on Friday. My wife and I stopped by the
Kitfox Booth and bumped into John, tried to lure some secrets from him on
the finish and fit of his strut fairings, he wasn't saying much, seemed
pretty busy, Debra was also busy with customers so we moved on. Tried to
find the Kitfox's by checking with the folks at the Homebuilt Headquarters,
normally they know the rows they are parked in but unfortunately this year
with all the rain they had to put them wherever they had a dry spot and had
no clue where to find them. Finally found 2 at the ultra lite field, a 4 and
a 3 but no one was around, so we watched the air show, checked out the
Seaplane Base and headed for home. Well, maybe next year.

Lloyd-
I was parked next to a model 5 in row 307, and Stan Sprecht and
another 'fox were 2-3 rows behind me, and Pete Christenson was a row
in front of me. This was the area where most all of the Kitfoxes camp
every year. Then there was Rex Phelps and another 'fox from Michigan
(can't recall his name) in their usual spot right next to the
Homebuilders Headquarters, and of course the absolutely gorgeous new
Rotec-radial-powered Super Sport flown to the show by Debra and John,
and two others as I recall. I'm sure I missed a few. Oh, yeah, and a
Kitfox on floats near the Kitfox display.
