Subject: | ground loop damage |
I assessed the damage with my A&P from the ground loop and found that the
leading edge spar is dented-in just outside the strut for about 18 inches
. The ribs all look good but I will know more after I remove all the fabr
ic. Two of the flaperon attachments are broken. The wood props were comp
letely broken off. I need advice on how to procede. The ribs are glued
to the front spar-can the glue be melted off or can I insert a tube insid
e the spar or cut out part of the spar? I won't know if the spar is bent
until all the fabric is removed. Does the engine need to be torn apart
or just the gear box? When I bought the aircraft I was told that modific
ations from the Kitfox one to a two were made to carry a increased load bu
t no information is available as to the modifications. What changes were
made from the one to the two? Would there be a difference in wing struc
ture between the two wings left and right from a one to a two? Any advise
would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: | Ball Slip Indicator Fluid |
Hi Folks,
As well as my Kitfox II I also own a Circa Nieuport 17 replica. The slip indicator
is low on fluid and I cannot seem to find out what type of fluid it takes
to refill.. Someone at work (TSB) told me that he thinks it is alcohol. Question..
does anyone out there in the Kitfox community know what fluid I should
use to re-fill???
Cheers
Ken

Use the same fluid used for compass rebuilds. Available through Aircraft
Spruce and others.

All of my slip indicators are sealed in a glass tube with no way to
evaporate or fill. I bought one in the fly market years ago. They had been
taken out of old turn and banks. I made a nice back plate and mounted it
with velcro on the panel of my Chief.
