You can find some information on Kitfox model structural changes at the following link: CLICK HERE (http://www.avidfoxflyers.com/index.php?/topic/603-history-of-kitfox-structural-changes) If a prop strike has occurred, the engine must be inspected, repaired or overhauled to the extent necessary to bring it back to serviceable condition before further flight. All work has to be performed in accordance with the relevant service manual. For more information, see: WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT PROP STRIKES (http://www.800-airwolf.com/part%2061.pdf). You can 'scarf' on new rib tails for the flaperon hinge ribs, see PIC HERE (http://www.avidfoxflyers.com/index.php?/topic/381-avid-catalina/page__hl__rib%20tails__st__20). If the spar is dented or bent or both, you must replace it. No repair to the damaged spar is considered safe or airworthy. The Hysol adhesive used to glue the ribs to the spar can be loosened with heat. I believe if you search the forums at TEAM KITFOX (http://www.teamkitfox.com/Forums/index.php) you will find related 'how-to' discussions. When you are replacing the spar tube, it is probably easiest just to cut the spar in between each rib to facilitate removal after heating. If you are careful, I see no reason why you can't simply slide a new spar into place and, after double-checking for proper wing square and twist, glue the old ribs to the new spar. Of course, you will have to install a new lift strut attach bracket and reattach the internal bracing (should be able to reuse existing) to the spar. I believe the spars come pre-drilled for bracket and braces, makes the job all that easier. All parts are readily available through KITFOX AIRCRAFT (http://www.kitfoxaircraft.com/). Sounds rather intimidating, but more time consuming than difficult I think. As has been suggested, might be quicker to find a set of used wings. If you go that route, you might need to install and drill new spar doublers to fit your carry through tube bushings. Whichever solution you choose, make sure to comply with SERVICE BULLETIN #9A (http://www.kitfoxaircraft.com/). Hope that helps get you started, good luck! -Doug -------- -Kitfox III 582 Blue/C Grove Spring / Aerocet 1100 Amphibs -Airdale Avid+ Jab2200 W.I.B. project Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=309288#309288 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message kitfox-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Kitfox-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/kitfox-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/kitfox-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
