Dave,
I have had same issue and used a piece of S/S for the samller hole.
Rviet the SS plate to your alum engine mount.
Drilling and Tapping to me would be risky of screwing up something else.
You got a good hole there already. I have over 1000 hours on this setup
on my plane alone with no issues. I do rip the rear mounts out once in
a while though.

I am in the process of replacing my model 90 582 with a bluehead model
99. In the original building manual they indicate that all the mounting
points will be equipped with 8mm holes, and the top left front hole may
require tapping.
My new engine has an offset 6mm tapped hole in that location, I will
attempt to include a picture. Has anyone else encountered this change,
and what did you do? My initial inclination is to simply use the smaller
bolt and leave the block unaltered.

you might also try using the optional 25 degree 'release' bars vs the standard
45 degree 'release' bars.

I took the left front mount to a welding shop
and had the upper hole welded up and drilled
a new offset hole. All is good
