What do I think? I think the Permatex folks might have inadvertently contradicted themselves a little bit. But Permatex stuff always seems to work for what they advertise on the package. So maybe you've found a good, inexpensive fuel thread sealant! Thanks for passing that along. Over the years, I've run many tests on different things in gasoline-filled jars. Most recently I made some little cork balls for sight-gauge floats and painted them with a dark polyurethane paint. Glad I tested them. The paint was fine, but the cork swelled such that the balls would have stuck in the sight tubes; back to the drawing board. I'm with Dick on this, Look for something else. The carbs on the 912 are set up just fine from the factory and shouldn't need any main jet changing or needle adjustment. Unless you know all the far reaching issues both short term and long term I would leave jetting in this case alone. I'm with Dick, look for some other explanation. You can check the carbs by one making sure they are balanced, but this time tie the plane down and run the throttle up to 5000 or until your gauges will no longer read. If you have an imbalance in fuel, actual carb imbalance or a throttle cable issue it will show up here and help diagnose your problem. Going in and just changing things to change them in the hopes of a fix isn't the right way. Many 912's have a slight roughness as they come down out of cruise to around the 3800-4000 rpm range. Unless you fly in very special circumstances all the time leave the jetting alone. -------- Roger Lee Tucson, Az. Has anyone used SeaLube or Fuel lube for the tank fittings? I've used it before and never had a problem. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/ezturnlube.php Thanks, Tommy Walker in Alabama -------- Tommy Walker N8701 - Anniston, AL Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=314615#314615

I used the Permatex 9AR and I am having to redo all the fittings. One at a time they each let go. I am using Pro Seal and it works well. I do use 100 LL so it may make a difference. -------- Don McIntosh Kitfox Series 7 Jabiru 3300 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=314616#314616

I have used Fuel Lube and still do for the plumbing fittings. I didn't have the poly header tank, though. Mine was an aluminum tank that a builder had made up for several of us as I was finishing my first project. Well, moving the needles up one notch seems to be the answer. It runs much smoother from idle up to full power now. At least on the ground. Tomorrow I will sync the carbs , put on the cowl, and go fly. After a few hours I will check the plugs for color, to see if I have gone too rich. Thanks all for the advice. Keith, Moving the needle clips "up" drops the needle farther into the jet and makes your midrange leaner, not richer.
