I have just 30 minutes of runtime on my 912s. Did some taxiing yesterday and when
I shut down I heard a big hissing in front. Got out and saw coolant pouring
out the bottom--looked inside the inspection door and saw coolant screaming out
from under the pressure cap (the metal one). This continued until the engine
cooled down.
My CHT's at the time were around 165. All other engine readings were normal. All
hose fittings are secure. How could the pressure build so high as to bust open
the pressure valve on the cap?

Maybe your cap is not holding the proper pressure. I believe 17 psi
is the proper cap. The previous owner had a 6 psi cap on mine and it
did also boil over.

Interesting possibility. However, my engine is factory new and I have no reason
to believe that Rotax installed the wrong cap. I also have a heater core installed
in parallel with the plumbing. Can a large air pocket cause the effect?
Basically expanding so as to push the fluid to capacity in the overflow bottle
and leaving the fluid no where else to go?

Is the overflow bottle vented? The reason I ask is that I overfilled once
and the excess came out of the bottle vent.

Hello Everyone,
I have seen many people have the Carlisle golf cart tires on a 6" rim and call
them Tundra Tires.... They are Heavy and Stiff, and the size is all I see that
is close to being what is referred to as a Tundra Tire.....The Carlisle Tire
is a very good tire, but I do not think it Preforms like Real Tundra Tires do....These
Tires I have are Soft and only use between 5 and 10 pounds of air, and
they are Light Weight........... They act like the Big Boys Tundra Tires in
Alaska...... The Rims I have are 8" in Diameter, and fit on Black Max and Hegar
wheel hubs, and maybe others..... Anyway I would like your input on what you
think about my Tire and Wheel Combo........ If anyone thinks they would like
to have a set for their Kitfox send me an e-mail..... These work Fantastic on
my Kolb, and I even sold a set to Rotax Rick that is on Barnstormers..... He is
a Rotax Repair Center down in Florida.... Anyway he has a set on his Quicksilver
that has a Rotax 670, and he loves them. I think these have been the best
mod I have done on my Kolb Firestar II....... Joe

CHT's and water temps are usually within a few degrees. So at 165F you should not
have a boil over unless the cap was not screwed on straight or the cap is bad.
It can happen. Take the cap off and put it back on. Run the engine again
and if it boils over replace the cap.
I take it you are using a 50/50 coolant mix?
The other thing on my mind is are you sure the 165F was correct?
