Both have the required ratings but the new oil seems thinner. What are other two stroke owners using now the preferred Pennsoil no longer appears to be available? I use it in the airplane, snow machine and boat. On my snowmachines we have what are called power valves, and it is basically a variable port on the exhaust. When running the manufactures oil (Arctic Power Valve oil) you have to pull the valves and clean them about every 25 hrs or so or you will start breaking the cable that actuates them. Since I have switched to the CITGO I have NEVER had to clean the power valves (I pull them and check them once or twice a season and put them right back in). I have used it in the 582 in the plane since the first start up, and have not had to de-carbon yet (160+hrs). By pulling the exhaust and intake I can see the ring grooves are clean and no build up on the head of the pistons. The kicker is the APV oil is $40 a gallon, and the CITGO is $11 or $12 a gallon. We are running this oil in several planes here the last few years with no issues! -------- DO NOT ARCHIVE Leonard Perry aka SNAKE Soldotna AK Avid "C" / Mk IV 582 (147 hrs and counting on the rebuild) IVO IFA Full Lotus 1450 #1 snake oil salesman since 1-22-2009 I would rather die trying to live, than to live trying not to die....
