The tubes in the middle of door can be replace with longer ones with a bend in them outwards, Re skin with 1/16 lexan. I likely got pics here some where -- I think it adds about 3 or 4 inches to cabin width and cost for materials under 100$ -------- Rotax Dealer, Ontario Canada http://www.cfisher.com/ http://www.kitfoxflyer.com/ http://rotaxaircraft.com/forum/ Realtime Kitfox movies to separate the internet chatter from the truth http://www.youtube.com/user/kitfoxflyer Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=318376#318376 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 04:41:03 AM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: 582 running hot? From: "dave" ....water is a 50-50 mix it is two years old and 183 hrs............ In the winter you need more anti freeze but in non freezing month or location you can run 90% distilled water and 10% dexcool . Your temps will drop. I would also swap temp and /or sensor , one at a time to make sure they are correct. My Kitfox has run without a problem at 180 F cruise indicated for over 1300 hours on several engines. You would make your prop a but finer as well likely if you using a tiny tack. those Rotax tachs are rarely accurate. 2 blade medium static 6300 to 6600 -- once airbourne they coursen up a bit. Great prop but you gotta tweak it like any prop. Hope that helps > > > [quote="kitfox555(at)sbcglobal.ne"]I have a Grey Head 582 running at climb 5800 rpm 180 degrees at cruse 5400 rpm 170-175 I and 70mph I have Changed the pitch from static 5800 to 6200 and no change I have a two blade IVO Medium for at least 100 hr now Checked the carbon on pistons but looks clean I moved the radiator down one inch to get more air on it , the outside air temp is been 80-85 water is a 50-50 mix it is two years old and 183 hrs, egt's run about 1150-1100 no cht gage, it cools right off when pulling the throttle back and slowing down, at 6000 rpm level still runs 180 + but i don't go much hotter. Question; How hot do people run there's , What can I look for to run cooler ? My next place will take out temp sender unit and put in hot water with thermometer to see if the same. ANY thing will be appreciated, Thanks > > Jerry Evans > KitfoxII > Magalia Calif. > N582'er' > kitfox 555 > -------- Rotax Dealer, Ontario Canada http://www.cfisher.com/ http://www.kitfoxflyer.com/ http://rotaxaircraft.com/forum/ Realtime Kitfox movies to separate the internet chatter from the truth http://www.youtube.com/user/kitfoxflyer Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=318377#318377 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 06:26:05 PM PST US Subject: Kitfox-List: Ivo fun with some questions From: "carlisle" Having a good time with my new IVO 68" ground adjustable light. Looks like cruise, using a static ground rpm of about 5800 will give me 8-10 mph more than the prior wooden prop putting me well into the yellow arc on my old (but trusty) Model 2, 582 Bluehead, C box, with 2.62:1 ratio. That is, I was doing about 75 before and am approaching 85 now at 5800 cruise rpm. A few comments: -If there weren't so many of them out there flying for so long, and I was the first customer, I'd be a little nervous with the documentation that came with it. Ambiguous @ times. Here's an example: "The only time you need to lock the screw adjuster with lock nut is when you pitch the prop between the neutral and two turns pitch decrease, in all other pitch setting screw adjuster stays where you leave it without a jam nut." Hmm. My interpretation of this is that the big (32mm) jam nut on the center adjuster bolt is superfluous then. In fact, I tried leaving it loosely tightened against the flange during a ground run and it quickly loosened and the prop went into coarse pitch. I read elsewhere on an ultralight blog that the center nut should be tightened to 40 ft/lbs. Gonna sell my old GSC. Anybody interested?
