Subject: | 912 installation on KFIII |
I'm trying to get the mount installed on my 912. The manual(an old KF III manual)
says the top mounts each bolt to the engine using a 10 mm bolt in front and
the long allen bolt supplied with the engine in the rear. The manual reads
like both mounts use the one long bolt in the rear to bolt to the engine. No
way the one bolt is long enough. Does it really mean that one side uses the long
bolt and the other uses a 10mm bolt ? Also even after turning the manifolds
around it's really tight with the card heat box and the radiator cap trying
to be in the same spot. Is this normal. Any suggestions or pictures welcome
thanks,
EG

I am looking at my 1993 engine mount instructions and it calls for four
M10X1.5X50 bolts top and bottom. That is a ten millimeter diameter bolt
with 1.5 mm thread spacing by fifty mm long.
Regarding the cart heat box. Most have eliminated it as it is not necessary
in practice. Some jurisdictions still require it, though and if that is the
case you can juggle the hoses to the spider tank and it can be moved around
a bit to give you clearance. I just mounted my spider tank in my new
project and the 90 degree tubes out of the heads can be removed and
repositioned if necessary. I used medium loctite as a thread sealant.
Other opinions may vary.
