I attend Oshkosh Airventure every year, but have never made it down to Sun-n-fun. For those that have been to both, how do they compare? -------- Ryan Wheeler Kitfox IV-1200 Indianapolis, IN Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=329936#329936

My mistake, the datum in this case is forward of both the mains and the tail wheel. I try to attend both annually. Sun N Fun has better chance of good weather. Otherwise both great events but Sun N Fun is my preference. Based on attending SnF in 2005 in a motorhome, and not being able to get there twice due to (flying) weather and the distance...1200 miles....Oshkosh (>400 miles) is my choice. With the motorhome at SnF, I paid for the week of parking in their campground, and when I got ready to leave after 3 days, I was told here was no refund for the remaining time unused. At Oshkosh, after 3 nights, any time left in the prepaid week is refundable, whether you fly in and camp, or camp in the motorhome lots. One year at SnF, they were inundated with rain and there were no dry areas for the parking of planes available, just like last year at 'kosh. Now they may have changed their tune (on camping refunds) at SnF, I wouldn't know...maybe someone who has actually flown/driven in there and camped in their spaces, could shed some light on the subject. Being that the datum is the leading edge of the plane when level you are right... and I was wrong. For some unknown reason I considered the arm to be not form the datum but from the CG... go figure. Noel -----Original Message----- From: owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-kitfox-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of FoxDB Sent: February 6, 2011 11:59 PM Subject: Kitfox-List: Re: Classic IV Weight and balance Sheet Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the position of the mains is about 2.25" aft of the fwd spar leading edge. This would make the arm a positive and the first calc would be correct. The error only seems to be the (-tare) shown in the item block. I'm originally from Orlando and attended Sun 'n Fun from the 1st one for many years until I moved to Colorado about 20 years ago. I've missed most years since then and had never been able to make it to Airventure until 2008. I was at Sun 'n Fun 2005. Airventure is much bigger and bigger can be better. To try to see and do everything the at Airventure 1st time you really should stay the full week. Sun 'n Fun can be done in less time since it's not as large, but it gets bigger every year too. I'll be at Sun 'n Fun for a day or two this year and likely make it to Airventure as well. Overall I'd say it's around half the size of Airventure and the smaller scale has it's appeal. Just my impression.
