My model 2 uses 3 bolts per cylinder/manifold and that seems to work. New or older
      gaskets?

      Dick,

I have always just planned on using wood & fabric like my original gear, so I didn't
go for the fairing option on the Highwing, LLC gear. That means I don't
have the welded tabs. I could ask Lowell if there is another way to attach their
fairings. Sure do like their workmanship. Although, I'd still be looking
at trying to streamline a portion of the spring tube that doesn't get covered
      by their fairing.

If you use a small amount of red/orange high temp RTV
on both sides of the gasket it won't leak the excess oil.
With the exhaust off, rub the engine side across sand paper
on a flat surface to see if its warped.
Also check the oil pump lever for proper alignment, you may
      be using to much oil.

Sorry James, I'm going to be of no use to you whatsoever. The seat and
instrument panel were built by the first builder, though I know they
were made from satin, probably five harness, 300g, and probably two
layers. The seat has reinforcing bands at the tubes and under each butt
of about double thickness. The seat saved weight and eliminated the old
"seat failure" bugaboo from way back. The instrument panel and glare
shield were for stiffness and "cool points", particularly the glare
shield, since it is clear-coated. (You can't see any carbon on the
panel, it's covered with wood veneer and nauga.) I've attached a picture
of the panel and my builder's log entries for the glare shield. No good
pictures of the glare shield, though, they're all in deep storage. Sorry.

The formed fairings need the tabs. The original idea for these fairings was
something that was fairly easily replaceable in the event of damage as they
are right below the doors. Wood and fabric is what I had on my original
bungee gear and it seemed to work fine.

MIght be a little heavier, but is easy to work with, but I am pleased with
the result of PVC lift strut fairings from Kitfox LLC.=C2- Snaps on, hold
s position with LTV and can be covered/painted, etc.

      Marco,
I have a stud in the "inaccessible" location and can get a nut and
lock washer on it so I end up with all four working.

      Pat,
It's just a little thing I picked off the rack at the local
aviation parts store. I pull in a lot of exhaust at times and so I've
always had that little thing around to make sure I stay alive.
