That means I don't have the welded tabs. I could ask Lowell if there is another way to attach their fairings. Sure do like their workmanship. Although, I'd still be looking at trying to streamline a portion of the spring tube that doesn't get covered by their fairing. From: "akflyerbob" If you use a small amount of red/orange high temp RTV on both sides of the gasket it won't leak the excess oil. With the exhaust off, rub the engine side across sand paper on a flat surface to see if its warped. Also check the oil pump lever for proper alignment, you may be using to much oil. -------- Bob Wolfe..Soldotna, Alaska KF Mod I and III Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=335591#335591 ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 10:39:33 AM PST US From: Guy Buchanan Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Re: Carbon Kitfox Crafters On 3/30/2011 4:25 PM, WurlyBird wrote: > That sounds like a lot of fun projects Guy. The seat and instrument panel were built by the first builder, though I know they were made from satin, probably five harness, 300g, and probably two layers. The seat has reinforcing bands at the tubes and under each butt of about double thickness. The seat saved weight and eliminated the old "seat failure" bugaboo from way back. The instrument panel and glare shield were for stiffness and "cool points", particularly the glare shield, since it is clear-coated. (You can't see any carbon on the panel, it's covered with wood veneer and nauga.) I've attached a picture of the panel and my builder's log entries for the glare shield. No good pictures of the glare shield, though, they're all in deep storage. Sorry. The original idea for these fairings was something that was fairly easily replaceable in the event of damage as they are right below the doors. Wood and fabric is what I had on my original bungee gear and it seemed to work fine. Marco, I have a stud in the "inaccessible" location and can get a nut and lock washer on it so I end up with all four working. *_Guy Buchanan_* Scoutmaster -- Troop 680 760.809.6145 scoutmaster@troop680.org www.troop680.org ________________________________ Message 12 ____________________________________ Time: 02:25:58 PM PST US Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: Re: Carbon Kitfox Crafters From: Patrick Reilly Guy, What kind of carbon monoxide decttor is that and where did you get it? Pat, It's just a little thing I picked off the rack at the local aviation parts store. I pull in a lot of exhaust at times and so I've always had that little thing around to make sure I stay alive.
