I started with snips, moved to a Dremel tool with diamond blade, then ended up using a multi-function oscillating tool (Fein or Harbor Freight) with a steel half moon blade. The blade has small, closely spaced teeth and cut faster than the small diamond grit Dremel blade when set slow to avoid melting. Cut cleanly right along the line with excellent control and required little edge polishing. Did the front strut curves with a small drum sander in the Dremel. -------- -Kitfox III 582 Blue/C Grove Spring / Aerocet 1100 Amphibs -Airdale Avid+ (project) TD / W.I.B. Kitfoxers, I'm running a 582 C box with a 72" Warp Drive prop. What RPM should I be running in straight and level flight, cruise and full throttle. Also I can idle down below 2000 RPM on ground at start up but on approach I have trouble getting RPM below 3000. I can't get her to stop pulling, hard to land when you can't get her to idle down. -- Pat Reilly Mod 3 582 Rebuild Rockford,IL

I just had to add my 2 cents worth. I have cut 3mm=2C 4mm and side windows=2C can't remember their thickness. Marked lexan with pen. Cut with sabre saw. Clint Model IV 912ULS since 1999.

Set it up for 6800 WOT, level flight, at about 6500' density altitude. Everything else is what it is. I cruise at about 75% power, which works out to 90% of your WOT speed. (Speed varies as the cube root of power.) Can't help you with idle, as I always had an RK400 clutch, which I can't recommend enough. Guy, Thanks for info. My biggest concern is that high idle on final at flare. That's one reason why a lot of us run the clutch. I've always loved it. I notice the price is up to $520US. Hard to swallow when the whole engine's only worth a few grand. I do think, though, that it's the best improvement you can do to a flying 582. Guy Buchanan Ramona, CA Kitfox IV-1200 / 592-C / Warp 3cs / 500 hrs. and grounded
