Guys, Trying to finish up my interior and have come to the point of installing the fuel lines from the wing tanks to the header tank, couple questions, has anyone ran aluminum from the header to just inside the wing root then rubber to the wing? What are the watch outs to doing so? Also, what flex fuel lines have people had success with in reference to ethanol resistance, I know Gates Barricade was previously discussed on the forum, I have not had any success finding a distributor yet, what else have people been comfortable with? Thanks for the help, Lloyd Cudnohufsky Model 5 912ul IVO IFA Northern Mi.

What you suggest is just fine. Use auto EFI hose. it is compatible with anything you put into your tank. Do not worry about the brand they all are ok. Sure Gates makes good stuff as does Goodyear, or NAPA and even the no name brands. Look carefully as some EFI hose is much stiffer than others. Important if you fold your wings or have tight bends. The only criteria needed is EFI and flexibility. Go to multiple auto shops and feel teh EFI hose. About half way back they turn into 3/8 aluminum and run behind the seat belt attach points, around, and forward to the header tank, all aluminum. I like it. I fold my wings every time I fly. Just make sure the aluminum lines are restrained at the end so they don't flex when you fold, and make sure they don't vibrate. I found it easier to route the aluminum than flex hose, since the aluminum stays where you put it. Can't speak to the ethanol resistance of the Aeroquip blue, as I only run 100LL. Lloyd, Finally got time to respond to the question. This is fresh in my recent building, but Guy's answer is exactly as I was thinking. Both the airplanes I am working on have folded wings for the sake of work room. The wings are extended from time to time for needed work and there is a lot of slack in the top area when extended and conventional wisdom says all should run down hill or you can get vapor lock in a rise that will trap a bubble. I ran rubber to the header tank then aluminum to the fuel valve and through the firewall on my project. I will have to rethink my project based on what you are suggesting as I also like the stay put nature of the aluminum.
