For ten days or so It was damp, drizzled, rained, and we rarely saw the sun until we took a train over the mountains and got inland a bit. When we took a floatplane sight seeing trip into "Misty Fiord" (an absolute high light of the trip) I noted that the fleet of float planes had dual flat screen CAP STONE moving map displays which display other properly equiped aircraft on the screens along with direction and altitude as I recall, plus very useable terrain info. With lots of low cloud decks, lots of scattered layers down lower, abruptly rising terrain all around, and often variable but marginal visibilty, this equipment seemed to fit Alaskan coastal flight operations like a glove. Get lots of advice from folks with experience (I don't have it!), enjoy your adventure, be safe.
