I do not have further knowledge, but we had very high winds in central, Tx. yesterday. (+/- 30 mph) On my way to Sun n Mud this year I landed @ Caldwell (70 mi E of here) and as I recall the runway is 50'wide. I made an x wind landing there in the strongest x wind I've ever landed in and it wasn't pretty. Used all 50'. Pete- The original article.... ********* Caldwell airplane crash kills 2 Houston Chronicle He identified the airplane as a Kitfox, a popular single-engine airplane kit assembled by owners. ********** .....listed the dateline as Caldwell, Idaho, not Texas. Because of the Kitfox factory fly-in at Caldwell, Idaho being this weekend, I was wondering if this crash was related. Now the question is, did the Houston Chronicle newspaper get the dateline wrong, or did this unfortunate accident actually happen in Texas? Jim and Sheila were dear friends of mine. I always looked forward to seeing them at our Kitfox fly-ins. I chatted with them quite some time on Saturda y afternoon, and I'll miss those future conversations that will go unfulfil led. We learned of their demise just before I departed Homedale on Sunday m orning for my return flight to Denver. May they rest in peace.
