I hate to admit it but, my only real problem with tailwheel was actually a problem with the tailwheel. The bushing was so worn that the tailwheel would release from the detend at the slightest side pressure, was great if you were practicing ground loops. Replaced the bushing...cured my tailwheel problems. That EGT gage is a valuable gage and it will indicate higher temp at cruise vs full throttle as the increaseed fuel at full throttle is cooling the engine. It is supposed to run hotter at cruise. And, as long as it is jetted correctly it won't run too hot. That EGT gage is your friend. By the way "Your " jury may still be out on the Rotax 582, but the light aircraft community jury has finished deliberating long ago. If it wasn't as good an engine as it is, there wouldn't be the gazillion of them as there are powering from 60 mph Kitfoxes to 120 mph Pulsar aircraft. $ for $ and # for # it is really hard to find a better engine.
