If you're looking for horsepower and low weight, consider putting in a Jabir
u 3300 (120 HP). I've got one in my Classic IV and actually got 47 lbs of u
seful load back from my EA-81 installation. My plane weighs in at 778 lbs b
ut would be lighter if I hadn't overbuilt it.
I actually had to remove the ballast I had in the tail (an ELT) for weight a
nd balance with the new engine. It was that much lighter than the Soob. I'
m really tickled with the engine now that it's broken in. It's a blast to f
ly.

Would you comment on performance? The 0200 seems like a great engine option
for the mod 4 if the addedweight could be compensated for.

In retrospect I would have extended the airframe by a foot or so, as the KF is
really short coupled. I can't recall how much ballast I added, but I took an
old battery case and bolted it into the back of the frame. I loaded lead shot
into the case until it felt right and then sealed it with epoxy. I can't remember
what the ballast weighed right now.
I considered other engines but ended up putting in the 0-200 as I got it from a
friend who was parting out his cessna 150 for a real good price. I normally
cruise around at about 2200 rpm at 85 knots on 4.5 gph. That is good enough for
me as I am a low and slow type guy. It climbs like a homesick angel.

Would you comment on performance? The 0200 seems like a great engine option
for the mod 4 if the addedweight could be compensated for.
