Pat, It has been several years so I can't remember cost. Probably about a
buck or two for a one foot section. Got em at Mike's Hobby in Carrollton,
Tx. Just cut a shallow V into the fat edge with an exacto, then rounded it
to shape of the strut with coarse sandpaper. I always left a three inch
section unfaired on the leading upper tube, since that's where I grabbed it
to spread the wings. The balsa won't take manhandling, but flight stresses
are no problem. Mine still looked good after two years when I sold the
plane. Plan on doing the same on the model 4 1200 I am starting now. Hobby
stores call it "aeleron stock", I think.
I'm going to Sebring in the lancair, hope to see some nice model 4 Kitfoxes
there. Ed
