I'm sot sure this is newsworthy but it is somewhat noteworthy for me.- To
day I just clicked off 500 hours on my kitfox IV.-- The first, almost 3
00 hours,-was with Rotax 582 power and the remainder with a Jabiru 2200.
-- I don't claim to be a "hard core" flyer but a steady, year after yea
r, of Saturday morning flights add up.- Included in these hours were a nu
mber of first time kitfox passengers, a few young eagles,- and even my 80
year old grandmother a few years ago.- My wife and I have made a number
of local fly-ins over the years in the kitfox and even camped under-the w
ing a few times.=0A-=0AMike Chaney-

Mike,
Newsworthy yes. I think it says something about consistency and
quality. Only comment, though - be respectful of the old folks. I am
still closer to 70. but 80 is not that far away.

Good for you Mike, that is note worthy especially when you are giving
rides to people who otherwise would not get into the air! Best time to
fly a Fox is early otherwise you'd better be a soaring pilot to take
advantage of the long wings.
Happy to hear your Grandmother at 80 can get into the ship......tough
for me and I'm a little younger! Bet she enjoyed her flight too!
Keep up the steady flying, most important to be current. Good job!

Why two engines?- =0A-=0AI was reaching what I understood to be be TBO
, 300 hours, on the- Rotax 582.-- A number of people claimed many mor
e hours before TBO.- -Mainly I just liked the idea of-an air cooled,
four cylinder engine.- I thought that-if-I was going to make an engin
e-change that was the time to do it.-Plus, -I received a pretty good
-offer for the 582 and got a reasonable price for the Jabiru package, so
I went for it.- I really don't have any negative things to say about my 5
82 experience.- In fact,- I didn't gain much speed or overall preforman
ce going to the Jabiru.- I just felt like it was a good decision which I'
m very happy with.=0AMike Chaney=0A =0A=0A________________________________
