Thanks, Roberto...and Guy, Dave, Lowell....yup, I'd forgotten all
about those in the past 6 years. When you see those "standards" in
print, they're scary as hell, when you think that the examiner could
flunk you over something as trivial as missing an altitude by a few
feet. My flight instructor had me maintain a 20-foot variance
(instead of the 100-foot) in turns around a point or S-turns, etc. He
said that if I could do that, he might let me slide by on another
"not-so-good" maneuver.

Congrats, Lynn. I want to hear how you do at circles on a point in 30 mph
wind! I can't relate to 2 mph, since I just came from ABQ to Dallas at 260
(ground speed) in my Lancair 360. OK I admit I had a 35 mph tailwind. BUT.
I am now covering the wings on My Mod 4 1200 Speedster, with aluminum skin
on the upper leading surface. Expect to have my Viking engine in December
and fly it next spring.
Question: has anyone found a good way to get the paper off the Skystar
plastic windows after 18 years of storage? Second question: How would a
Speedster handle with the horizontal tail from a Lancair 320- about 2 feet
less span and 40% less surface area on the stab and elevator? It would
surely add some speed, but would it have enough control landing?
