Hi Ed-
I would think those circles in a 30 mph wind would be like pylon
racing, or at the least they'd be oval circles!
I have a friend with a Zenith 701 that he put a Viking in.....a few
"growing pains" but he got it going, and it flies well.
I got the paper off my side windows (only 11 years on mine, though)
by sheer manpower....just pulling....no heat applied. It might be
easier to buy new material.
I'm no engineer, but going to less surface doesn't sound
good....remember they ADDED surface area to the model IV.

Hey Ed,
How long have you been flying the Lancair? I love the thought of owning a Go
Fast, my time has been spent in Kitfox's 150's and 172's, I own a Bede 4
project I am working on, but have often distracted myself by drooled over
the fast glass like Lancairs and Glasairs.

Congrats, Lynn. I want to hear how you do at circles on a point in 30 mph
wind! I can't relate to 2 mph, since I just came from ABQ to Dallas at 260
(ground speed) in my Lancair 360. OK I admit I had a 35 mph tailwind. BUT.
I am now covering the wings on My Mod 4 1200 Speedster, with aluminum skin
on the upper leading surface. Expect to have my Viking engine in December
and fly it next spring.
Question: has anyone found a good way to get the paper off the Skystar
plastic windows after 18 years of storage? Second question: How would a
Speedster handle with the horizontal tail from a Lancair 320- about 2 feet
less span and 40% less surface area on the stab and elevator? It would
surely add some speed, but would it have enough control landing?
