Subject: | Tail Wheel Needed |
A hard landing seems to have damaged the tail wheel and it doesnt want
to lock in place to allow steering.
i'm guessing if i took the time to take it apart i could follow the
diagram i have and get replacement parts.
B ut n the meantime i would like to consider fixin it later and getting
a spare so i can concentrate on the other aspects of getting it running.
Any ideas on aftermarket or used options?

I have a maul tailwheel that I would let go - make a ridiculous offer. If
you are looking new aftermarket, I would recommend one of the Home builders
Special tailwheels from aircraft Spruce. I have owned both the two arm and
the single arm versions and liked them both. One thing, though as I went to
the site to look at them again. The bearings as they come from the
manufacturer are not sealed and are nearly impossible to lubricate. The
bearings they sell are sealed and very easy to replace.

I have a pdf file of an excellent article about the care and feeding of a Maule
tail wheel,
I think that it might be too large to attach here, but I'll try. Or, I can send
it by email if someone wants it.
