There is an option to do so by grounding one the pins however (I forget which now) but as you say it doesn't sound like a good idea. If that were true, when the radio was picking up a signal, you'd not be able to talk over your intercom to the other guy to say things like, "We're on fire, Do you see the traffic, You're airspeed is too low, or Watch out for those birds". > > Do radios with built in intercom cut out the intercom when receiving a signal? From: Skot Weidemann My used Vixen has a three bladed Ivo prop which from all indications is a great prop. The plane gets off, climbs & cruises well. It does however have a lot of time on it and shows some noticeable leading edge damage. I'm wondering if I should stick with this brand prop or consider another such as Sensenich or Kiev? I'm sure some of you have thoughts. Of course that becomes a problem when you're supposed to be in communication with ATC. So that's why most intercom systems allow the radio audio to override the intercom audio. But if your flying hardly requires the radio, it's certainly a pain to have radio overriding intercom all the time. Some intercoms have a three-way switch on them to either give the radio priority, to give intercom priority, or to mix intercom and radio together. Because mine does, I use intercom priority only when I'm away from the traffic area on a busy day and not interested in hearing everyone's unicom calls. But I switch it to mixed-mode when I'm heading towards the pattern. And I only use radio priority when I'm talking to ATC and I don't want to miss a single beat no matter what my passenger says. In that case I instruct them to point out traffic to me with their hand, and I can always switch back to mixed-mode. If you like the idea of having radio audio mixed with intercom audio, maybe your radio guy could find a way to do that. -------- Mike Perkins Havana, Illinois Model I, 532, B gearbox, GSC prop Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=404375#404375 ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 01:40:30 PM PST US From: "Glenn Horne" Subject: RE: Kitfox-List: intercom function My Cherokee 140 and my Kitfox II work the same way.
