I am still monitoring this list from here, in Norway. But my Kitfox 3 is still flying without problems so, I am not a frequent poster! ;-) I love shooting reindeers from my Kitfox but I had to give up. I once shot Rudolf and Santa was very crossed with me. I got no Christmas present that year! :-( ... ;-) Cheers, Michel -------- Kitfox 3 - Jabiru 2200 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=415101#415101

I'm still here, and still flying Dan Denney's original model I, 85DD. I was never very active here as I was a late commer. I much prefer the TKF site format. As for username and logging in, you still have to have both on this site too if you want to view it from the internet. Why not get over the "tricks is for kids" attitude and join both. Be part of the Kitfox Family. It's a pretty good family to be part of. -------- Steve Wilson Huntsville, UT Kitfox Model 1- 85DD 912A / 3 Blade Warp Drive Convertible Nosewheel & Tailwheel Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=415108#415108

In Montana, you have to get a permit from the Mt Dept of Livestock and get written permission from the landower to shoot coyotes from the air. The Dept of Livestock has a helicopter and with the cooperation of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife govt trappers, shoot coyotes from the helicopter using a shotgun. I have been told that on one of their best days they killed over 400 coyotes. Steve, Your wrong about requiring signing in to this sight. Every post is automatically sent to my email. with the posters actual name. When someone new comes on the sight without location we usually request a location. I suppose TKF is alright but compared to this sight it is cumbersome to say the least. Steve, I was looking through my old Kitfox Times collections - Issue 2, 1994 and found this page. I thought you might want a copy if you don't already have one. No real problems with TK, but for some reason I have not sensed the warmth, I felt with fellow Kitfoxers that I felt with the old fashioned lists. The original Kitfox list started in 1994 or so by a guy out of the University of Colorado - found the announcement as I was reading through the old Kitfox times. I joined right away and became close friends with a lot of the guys and met many at fly-ins and made personal visits with others across the country as I was able. Maybe it is just me, but for the most part, I knew who they were, what they did and where they lived and we communicated with first names rather than code names. If I saw a name tag or data plate that said John Jones, I knew who I was talking to. It just seemed more friendly to me. Lowell

Lowell, Wow! And thanks! I haven't see that one. I will print that and add it to my 85DD history collection. I agree with you about names. Like you said, it's hard to go to a fly-in and hear names but not realize you were just talking to "wing strut" or whomever. I would much prefer the use of real names. It happened to me just last week from a backcountry pilot site I'm on. I saw a backcountry plane at my local airport that I recognized from one guy's avatar so I walked up to him and said, "Are you GrassstripPilot?" His answer was, "Who's asking?" I explained where I got the name GrassstripPilot, then he relaxed and told me his actual name. He explained that due to where he lands he doesn't want to use his actual name on the forum. Maybe that is why people use fake names on forums. To be totally up front, I use the name SkySteve, but I do sign everything with my name. It is irritating and confusing but I guess it's just the way it is. In general I've found most pilots are pretty good guys. -------- Steve Wilson Huntsville, UT Kitfox Model 1- 85DD 912A / 3 Blade Warp Drive Convertible Nosewheel & Tailwheel Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=415125#415125

Dave, Great to hear from you. It's not silliness. It's more like laziness. Anytime I have to remember more or take additional time and effort to accomplish the same thing I'm out. Simplicity is the name of the game. I guess if I have to get involved with TKF to accomplish something with my KF, I will. I already spend too damn much time at this computer. I'm a full 2 years behind on my Whittman Tailwind project and the motorcycles I'm rebuilding. Pat Reilly On Sun, Dec 8, 2013 at 9:35 AM, Dave <dave@cfisher.com> wrote: > Pat. Years ago there was a ton of activity on Kitfox list. It was a time of models II, II, & IVs along with Rotax 582 engines. I now spend time in the Kitfox archives as needed. I have a model II with a 582 and a Warp drive 3-blade prop. The kit, #399, is 24 years old. Either all the questions have been answered or the delivery of information has changed. Perhaps it=99s a little of both. I=99ve looked at the other Kitfox website and find it somewhat harder for searching and chasing conversation threads. I have to agree with Lowell. I've been on the list since 94. I used to be more active, but over the years I've gone from building to flying and don't have much to offer on the construction side. My Model V/912ULS just trucks along with no real issues. TK is okay, but like most of you, I prefer to know who I'm talking to. I do read all the posts, but by the time I get to the list, people much smarter than I have already provided the answers. I do pay close attention to the more global discussions as I'm on the Board at EAA as well as the Chairman of the Homebuilt Aircraft Council. I learn a lot from this list and the others I'm on. It appears that many do follow this list, when it is active. And when people are building they tend to post more than when they are flying. The TKF list seems to be the same way in that builders post more, flyers post less. I've never been a builder, but fly quite a bit. I wish flyers would post more as I love to hear about their adventures, techniques, how their planes fly, etc but I find very few posts on either site about actual flying, and I miss that. In fact, I find I also post very little about flying because when I do, there are very few responses and I end up feeling like I one of very few who fly, as well as I sometimes feel I'm hogging all the "let me tell you about my adventure" space. -------- Steve Wilson Huntsville, UT Kitfox Model 1- 85DD 912A / 3 Blade Warp Drive Convertible Nosewheel & Tailwheel Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=415153#415153

Steve, The reason builders post more is a site like this is a wealth of info. When I was rebuilding my Mod 3. There were 5 or 6 absolute Kitfox experts available to me here. I'm not much for the social aspect of flying. My appreciation, respect, and admiration for those 5 or 6 guys that mentored me through 2 years rebuilding are invaluable. And I acquired many parts from the members of this website. I have a question. This site allows me to have all posts to the site automatically emailed to me. Can I do that with the TKF site? If so I might use that site also. Pat, Yes, I do understand the uniqueness of the building quality of sites like these, and agree that's why most posts are centered around building. I'm just not smart enough, nor willing to put in the time to build. I just want to fly. I have to admit I, too, have gleaned a lot of info from the builders' discussions and have added many mods to my plane because of their discussions. All good stuff. My point was that my personal main interest is the adventures and thrill of flight I get from my Kitfox, and that I like to share those with others. I don't think the TKF site is set up to email you. My understanding is you are required to get on the site thru the internet. If it helps, once you log-on and put in your password, there is a box to check which will automatically log you in each time you go to the site, just like this site will do. -------- Steve Wilson Huntsville, UT Kitfox Model 1- 85DD 912A / 3 Blade Warp Drive Convertible Nosewheel & Tailwheel Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=415162#415162

I think I am finally finished building, but that is where my heart is. I had a video camera mount on my first IV and can't seem to live without one. I am on my third iteration of a mount for my current project - it had to be HD and able to zoom. The first two versions were miserable failures. It also had to be on a controllable gimbal mount. I think I am almost finished and am more optimistic this time. Then what, though. I gotta say this though, I am glad to see some of the names who have influenced me so much in the past. It feels really good that everyone is still around. Lowell From: Patrick Reilly Sent: Sunday, December 08, 2013 6:34 PM Subject: Re: Kitfox-List: 95DD Dave, See it ain't just me! With all the great posts over the past three or four days, I developed the courage to bring up something that is troubling me flying wise. I have lost significant hearing - to the point that air to air or air to ground communication is impossible without some significant help. I use hearing aids and have hard wired the audio from the radio to the receiver/controller I wear around my neck. I talks to the hearing aids through Blue Tooth. It helps a lot when it works. I thought I lost my radio on the trip to Desert Fox Squadron last March and seriously wonder now if it was the radio or the hard wiring to the thing around my neck. Does anyone else have this problem and if so what have you done to mitigate it? Lowell
