Subject: | Re: New (Free) Aviation App |
Hi Glenn
Great idea. Being techno challenged I can't seem to find the google map. How can
I download it to my iPhone? I've gone to web site but just States are listed
and no map. Thanks again for doing this.

If your phone does not support the app, then go to our new website, www.airportcourtesycars.com The site is mobile friendly and you can place its icon to your phone or tablet screen. Both versions show Google maps for each state, the app version still shows the entire US map which some people prefer. The site currently lists over 1560 cars. Thanks for your input and contact us with any questions, new listings, or corrections to airportcars101@gmail.com And please check out our advertisers and FBOs who offer you fuel discounts. The app remains free.

The 2 versions are slightly different regarding the maps. First, if you are asking
how to download the app to your iPhone, simply go to the app store on your
phone and search for "Airport Courtesy Cars". On the phone app, there are 2
different maps. On the main app page, the map page will take you to a Google
map of the entire US. Then, on both the app version and the web version, when
you go to a specific state, the first verbiage you see under the state name
is "Tap/Click Here for Map", that will take you to a Google map of that state
only. Those maps are a little "glitchy", expand the map with 2 fingers and hold
it for a couple seconds, or the map will spring back. I am trying to figure
out how to format those maps the same as the US map (if anyone knows, please
fill me in!) Hope this helps! Glenn

BJ,
You're too kind. Thanks for the nice words. Re:
1. The oil cooler is an Earl's 21608AERL 16 Row Oil Cooler -8 AN Black
I bought off Amazon. It's much larger than is typically used on
912's because of my southwest location. (Lots 'o hot.) The mount was
custom, as was the cowl mod. I'm guessing Kitfox LLC can sell you a
cooler and mount, but the catalog's ambiguous as to whether a mount
is included. Give them a call. Later I made a Van's style shutter
over the front which seems to work OK to help raise oil temperatures
in the cold. I don't know if it blocks too much in the summer yet,
though.
2. The metal coolant lines were all custom, starting with a bunch of 1"
mandrel bent aluminum elbows, (see this
<http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002VK7596/ref=pe_385040_30332190_TE_3p_M3T1_ST1_dp_2>
and that
<http://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/exhaust-pipes-individual-bends>,)
combined with some 1" straight that I had a local guy weld together
after I did all the cutting and matching. I then beaded them and had
them chromed locally. Unfortunately it was rather (shall we say
hideously) expensive, mostly because I didn't feel comfortable
welding aluminum. (OK with steel.) But I figured they'd last nearly
forever and I definitely preferred them to soft tubing.

Guy,
Just as I suspected based on the craftsmanship throughout, you have custom
coolant pipes and custom oil cooler mounting hardware.
Thanks for the detailed response and links.
The kind words regarding your build were inadequate.

Yes sir, you can load it on your iPad. When you do a search in the app store,
you will see in the upper left corner of your iPad a box that says "iPad apps",
chick that for a drop down menu and change the search to iPhone apps and it
will show right up. Glenn
