Subject: GAS CAP on model 2 header tank

Am replacing a cracked header tank gas cap on a KF2.
Found a universal snowmoble cap that is identical.
The cracked original has a homemade vent line coming out the top . Its a fuel
line bent in a pig tail loop with a wire inside to hold the loop shape.
I drilled the new cap with a tiny hole for a vent , But am wondering if that is
ok, is the pig tail line needed to prevent syphoning or to break a low pressure
area ?
Any experiences out there ?
