--> Kolb-List message posted by: "Bill Futrell" <Bill-Jo@prodigy.net> Larry that is the same set-up that I am using now. I have a fact pump on the 12 gal tank that I use to get fuel from the gas station with quick disconnect that I have installed on the plane that I use to fuel the plane. For extra fuel I will strap that pump on a tank strapped in the pass seat connected to the one tank that I have my fuel gauge mounted in and when I need fuel I just flip the switch and monitor the gauge to know when I need to shut it off. I will continue to use this setup until I can get a larger tank built. I am looking to build or buy a tank that will give me about 16 or 18 gal useable fuel. I like the tank that Steve Green and Lisa Turner has made. --> Kolb-List message posted by: Bob Bean <slyck@frontiernet.net> Kolb Krowd, finally plowed through a week's email after my travels. Big Lar gave me a pleasant tour of the arid regions. You're right Lar, the mex food in the doggy bag left on the night stand in the motel about made me wake up pukin from the smell. In a way I was glad Vamoose didn't start when I was there---didn't want to see all those neighbors comin at us with pitchforks. John Wood, good to meet you and your friendly EAA chapter members. -Sure is a pretty gas tank. Regarding monument valley: After experiencing travel times in a MDsuper 80, I know I won't be struggling through those kind of miles in my MkIII -BB do not archive

I ran into a tangle with the end play, but won't bore you with the details. :-) Plenty of time to work on that when I get it (him ??) back. How did you work out the anodizing ?? Is it expensive ?? How well will it hold up to scratches, etc. ?? If you're working in an un-heated shop at 0 F., you're one tough - and dedicated - hombre. Gogittum Lar. Do not Archive. Well i guess we had better not change the date from may 19... i guess that would be cruel to invite people and then move up the deadline so they cant come. boyd do not archive. ps last night on the news i saw a group of hot air baloons fly over the monument valley area. it was breath taking..... i guess they like the real cold air, it gives the hot air baloons an extra lift....

    Subject: Re: progress
--> Kolb-List message posted by: <rowedl@highstream.net> Lar, I have a friend at Pittsburgh anodizing who does all my anodizing. It is very reasonable. I built aluminum Gull wing door frames and had them do the frames and every other exposed piece of aluminum in gold. Due to trouble securing the thin strips from the gap seal in the coloring tanks, I had to go with clear on the gap seal. My engine and rad mounts, tail spring, gear legs, door frames, choke lever, seat mounting strips, all control surface hinges, fuel tank tray, and other misselaneous parts are gold. I had the floor trays done in teflon impregnated anodize which only comes in black, but it holds up to scratches better than normal anodizing. Regular anodizing slows oxidation down to next to nothing and makes parts look super. However, it really doesn't offer any scratch resistance. The teflon process helps a little in that area but is more pricey and is only available in black I don't think I have $150 bucks in all I had done, it is a great way to protect your investment. Turned out to be -12 degees outside this morning , the garage did not get above 18 degrees all day. Worked with insulated coveralls over two hooded jackets and my Rocky Corn Stalkers on my tootsies. This is brutal but I gotta get it done. Sure wish I had safety wired the hinge pins before I installed them on all but one wing, it sure is a lot easier to do before the hinges are riveted on. Also did a little wiring. Just two more days of vacation, gotta keep my head down and keep this thing rolling.
