You can see he took many photo's (a few he posted) of the small gathereing. But the highlight of the afternoon was Adriel Heisey sharing with us his talent and profession. Really an Awe inspiring presentation of beautiful photo's shot from his 912S powered Twinstar. He did not bring the plane due to bad weather system moving through our area all last week. All who were there, asked to do it again in the near future. Thanks for the pictures. I sure wish I hadn't had a commitment I couldn't get out of or I would have joined you. Will, don't feel bad, noone can match Adriel's picture taking from his Twinstar. He's one interesting and talented guy, that figured out how to make a living doing the thing he loves most! Wish I had been that smart a lot earlier... :-) Next time! Weather permitting, I'll be flying to the Cactus fly-in on Saturday in Casa Grande, so I hope to see some of you there! Do you have any power charts on this ei, hp - rpm and torque - rpm. I would be interested in seeing it. There is an old saying. torque flies the airplane but Hp sells it. You may have enough torque there to omit the reduction drive.

--> Kolb-List message posted by: jerb <ulflyer@airmail.net> Todays business model is sell it for what the market will bear. (Examples, EAA, Disney World, for profit Sporting events, and movie theaters) If you make enough on each unit you don't have to sell many which over comes the excuse of not making enough to bring the cost down. This also reduces liability exposure as there are less units purchased. Lack of "good" product from competitors reinforces this model. Why do you think Jabiru was able to increase their already high price on their engines. Using your model as their cost to produce and deliver each engine decreased, the price should have gone down right. But that has not been the case, their sales have increased showing that market is tolerant to pay the higher price. This raises the question, how much should gas cost if compared to bottled water. A bottle of water sells for around $.89. What sets the high price and who supports those prices. It cost far less to produce a bottle of water, drill a well, pump, filter, package, transport and distribute it. For gas drill a very deep well in specific geographical area, pump, transport the crude, refine, store, transport again and distribute it. Gas should therefore cost over $7 a gallon. Perhaps the prior older generations believed a fair profit was enough and would not cave in to gouging. jerb Do not archive At 07:04 PM 3/3/03 -0500, you wrote: >--> Kolb-List message posted by: woody <duesouth@govital.net> > >At 08:14 PM 3/2/2003 -0600, you wrote: > >--> Kolb-List message posted by: jerb <ulflyer@airmail.net> > > > >Which model engines are you running? > >jerb > > > I have a 2703 on my Twinstar and a 2706 on a buddies Mk111. --> Kolb-List message posted by: jerb <ulflyer@airmail.net> Call Tom Olenik. See what he can advise. If you use his time, at least be nice to the guy and buy the parts you'll need from him. If you don't think you can handle it, strip it down per his recommendation, and ship it to him. He'll fix it for you. Shipping and his cost should be a lot less than a new engine plus he'll enlighten you to what he really found. I had a hot cylinder, it was caused by a leaky head gasket. Any exhaust or intake manifold leak can also cause the same symptoms. Have you checked the engine for carbon build up? If it gets to much it will make the rings stick, which cases blow by, leaning the mixture, raising the EGT can cylinder temps. jerb At 08:10 PM 3/3/03 -0500, you wrote: >--> Kolb-List message posted by: "H MITCHELL" <mitchmnd@msn.com> > >John et al, > >The mag-end cylinder of my FireFly's 477 engine has shown near red-line >EGTs and CHTs since the engine was first broken in.
