--> Kolb-List message posted by: Ken Korenek <ken-foi@attbi.com> Kolbers, Today is a good day- this morning "My Mistress" passed her condition inspection and has been granted an air worthiness certificate. Because it was flown as an ultralight prior to certification, I have only 10 hours (instead of 40 hrs) to fly off in the initial phase. After the 10 hrs are off, I apply for the Repairman's Certificate so I can do my own inspections. I started this on the 25th of February and she got signed off today- 39 days? Give yourself plenty of time with the aircraft registration in OKC- that was the long lead item and the real headache in my process. Today, she is an "aircraft!" A legal one, at that! -- Do Not Archive ********************* Ken W. --> Kolb-List message posted by: "Larry Bourne" <biglar@gogittum.com> That's great news, Ken. When will you make your 1st flight ?? The registration part is interesting, too. Vamoose has been registered for a while now - N78LB - and I've started the paperwork for my airworthiness certificate, etc. How long did it take for the rest of the B.S. ?? The DAR I wound up with sounds very fair and reasonable on the phone, so I hope to join you very soon. Today marked a major milestone ! ! !.....................altho' there is detail work, etc. yet to be done, I could, at this point, start the engine, and safely fly Vamoose. What a great feeling, eh ??.................there really IS light at the end of the tunnel. I'm working very hard to be Air-Bourne this month. Lar. Do not Archive. --> Kolb-List message posted by: "Larry Bourne" <biglar@gogittum.com> Some time ago, I squalled and howled and moaned about the county digging me for Personal Property Tax on an uncompleted aircraft (Vamoose) with a reserved number. Some one came back and informed me that it was "registered" to me, and not "reserved," and I was full of beans. (???) Digging thru the piles of odds & ends the other night, getting ready for the DAR, I've sorted out some interesting papers. One of them states that, for a one year period beginning Mar. 30, 1998, United States registration number N78LB has been "reserved" in my name. It goes on to state that this number is in a "reserve" status only, and may not be painted on an airplane, etc., etc. Then there's a smaller light cardboard card labelled "Registration - Not Transferable," date of issue Aug. 10, 1998. Why they chose to send it, I don't know, and I sure don't remember getting it. I certainly didn't request it, and tho' it's cost me a lot of grief and angry-vation, I suppose it did save me a few bucks a year. So end-eth the great mystery. Un - Baffled Lar. Do not Archive. --> Kolb-List message posted by: CaptainRon <captainron@theriver.com> Well i made good progress today as well. Both wings for the first time were mated to the cage. the Struts were drilled and mated, I will have two sets of struts one with diehdral and one pair without. Just curious to see if there is any difference. It was a great feeling to see it with the wings opened and looking like a flying machine. Tomorrow I will install the control horns for the flaprons, and fabricate the cables for the rudder and elevators. I can actually see the end in sight. I guess I will write a check for a motor this coming week, and start thinking about covering and final paint. A while ago someone mentioned that there is a site where I can try and get a unique registration number. Does anyone still know the URL for that. Sure would like to try and get a number reserved. I don't know if I'll be done in time for that fly up in Nevada or wherever it is, but it will be close. do not archive =================================================== on 4/5/03 19:31, Larry Bourne at biglar@gogittum.com wrote: > --> Kolb-List message posted by: "Larry Bourne" <biglar@gogittum.com> > > Some time ago, I squalled and howled and moaned about the county digging me > for Personal Property Tax on an uncompleted aircraft (Vamoose) with a reserved > number.
