--> Kolb-List message posted by: Airgriff2@aol.com While attending Sun & Fun, and picking up some small iteams from Lockwood Aviation, I spoke with Kerri (one of the most knowledgable when it comes to Rotax). We touched on the subject of oil and he showed me their catalog which states that Penzoil for air cooled engines is recommended for most all Rotax 2 strokes EXCEPT FOR THE 618. It goes on to explain that they recommend Penzoil Premium Outboard Motor Oil for the 618. petrolium base, not the synthectic. Has been found to work out better in regards to the rave system. Remember if you ever do change from one brade of oil to another, don't mix the two. Weird things can happen. Fly Safe Bob Griffin

--> Kolb-List message posted by: "Jim and Phyllis Hefner" <hefners_tucson@hotmail.com> Dave, I have reservations in the campground the night of the 18th thru 20th, where I plan to park my trailer, after unloading myFF at the tiedown area. If anyone needs a place for sleeping bag gear, I've got lots of room and will have electric hook-up with lighting... beats sleeping on the ground. I could bring stuff if needed. Last year we ate all meals at the lodge, since there were only 3 of us, oneof which was my daughter. I'm looking forward to meeting lots of new faces and having a great time! --> Kolb-List message posted by: "Terry Davis" <davistcs@eoni.com> Thanks for all the responses on the overheating question. So much for my memory (or lack thereof). Guess it doesn't happen with a 503. The question now is where to put "the handle". I had thought to mount it over my left shoulder, (short and out of the way) but after Tim mentioned putting it by the throttle I thought that sounded alot more panic proof. How tight can the housing be bent? Seems like if it had a tight curve it would be harder to pull, but I guess if you had to pull it you would probably really give it a yank and never notice the effort. Any ideas would be welcome. --> Kolb-List message posted by: "Larry Bourne" <biglar@gogittum.com> Big Lar's rambling again. Hit delete now, or forever hold your peace ! ! ! OK, that's done. Reservations for RV for 18th & 19th, with option for more. Vamoose may, or may not come for the ride. Dunno yet............spent the last 3 days force fitting it into a trailer built for a FireStar. Thankfully, John allowed plenty of room for his FS when he built the trailer................tho' I think he built it to haul military tanks. That trailer is one rugged piece of equipment. Hard part was getting Vamoose back out ! ! ! The welder's bill is gonna be ferocious. I got to looking at Goulding's tour page, ( www.gouldings.com ) and like the idea of the all-day-er up to Mystery Canyon and all. I've developed a fascination with that red rock country, and the Old Ones' ruins. Also, I've been to Canyon de Chelly (pronounce it "Canyon de Shay") and Mesa Verde in the past; both are magnificent, and an easy drive from Goulding's. I'd love to see both again, so..................I will. Might as well go back to Page, AZ, too, and go on a slot canyon tour. That and Glen Canyon dam, and the start of the Grand Canyon are tremendous. It would be very easy to spend a week or more up there. That is magnificent country, and it'd be a shame to blow in, and back out again. Last summer, I launched my boat at Lee's Ferry, where the raft trips start, about 10 miles downstream from Page, (50 miles by road) and ran up the beginning of the Grand Canyon to the bridge at Glen Canyon Dam. Probably the most magnificent boat ride of my life. (this is all WAY above where the rapids start, tho' you DO hafta watch for shallows, etc. I got 2 little dings on the prop, anyway) You should see the pics.......................?? Hmmmm.................I think I'll just go ahead and make up a page of that, and get back to you-all. Went'n Gottum Lar. Do not Archive.
