If you are going to have any requirement for regulated 12VDC, you will need the reg/rec. john h DO NOT ARCHIVE

Cross country flights are simply made up of short individual legs. The more legs you put together, the longer the trip. When you needed fuel in the Lake Livingston area, should have landed at Livingston Airport (00R) on the east side of the lake. I stopped there to take a break a couple weeks ago. They have automated fuel system, a nice little FBO, and friendly folks. I'm like you, when you happen upon friendly, hospitible people, don't want to leave and take a chance of ending up in an isolated airport with no facilities and no fuel. I have a good friend in Florida, Roland Alexander, who used to crosscountry his Bucaneer back in the 80's. He was first to fly an UL to the Bahamas, then made a flight up the east coast to the St Lawrence Seaway. Had intended to fly the big loop through the Great Lakes and back down the Mississippi, but ran into inclement weather. Again he tried the flight up the Mississippi River and back to Florida clockwise, but had an unfortunate mishap along the north Gulf coast which ended that attempt. I think he still flies out of the Florida Flying Gators Airpark north of Orlando. My flight to Etowah Bend has been canceled. Rained so much yesterday I could not work on my airplane. Today, same weather forecast as yesterday. Hard to stay home, but probable the most prudent decision. You know the old saying, "It is better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground." john h PS: Why don't you buy a Kolb and put it on amphib floats? A lot more airplane than either the Adventurer or the Bucaneer, IMHO. DO NOT ARCHIVE

--> Kolb-List message posted by: jerb <ulflyer@airmail.net> Out side of the shunt type KeyWest regular, most are limited to around 3 amps of current. The KeyWest will do 10 amps. Your strobes may suck close or more than 3 amps unless you go with a unit capable of being directly powered from lighting coils. While I can't say I actually seen it, Bob Comperini (moderator of the Fly-UL group) sells a strobe that according to others on the UL List, is one of the brightest there is. The unit draws around 4.25 amps. Contact info is below. e-mail: robertc@qnet.com http://www.fly-ul.com Regards, jerb At 01:06 AM 6/14/03 -0400, you wrote: >--> Kolb-List message posted by: DAquaNut@aol.com > > > Group, > Im in the process of installing the 447 engine on my firefly. I will call Linda Mon. They show what appears to be a bing fuel pump, on the the prints that came with my fire fly in 99. The pump they sent me is the Mikuni pump which is rectangle in shape . According to ac spruce the bing pump should be used if the motor is much higher than the fuel tank. Do you think the mikuni will be sufficient. Maybe you can shed some light on this and enlighten me. Thanks again, Ed Diebel
