Unnamed 503er and Group,
I used a 66" two blade Warp on an original Firestar with a 377. It
worked great and sounded good. After I built my Firestar II, I bought a
wood prop to sell with the original Firestar, so that I could use the
Warp on the II. I used it on the II for less than 30 minutes. It was way
too loud for me. And a Warp is too heavy to add the extension that you
can use on an IVO (at least on a B box). So I have been using an IVO on
an extension for the last 5 years on my Firestar II.

I wish I knew what I did. I will have to set it up and take a whole bunch

post it to the list.

Bryan:
I have about 120 hours on my Hirth 2702, and the only problem I have had
with it is it does not like bad connections in the ignition system, and would
run rough on the mag checks usually after shutting down, and restarting when
warm. I removed all of my bullet connectors in my wiring and soldered all of
them, even to the ignition switches. I had to tighten the factory bullet
connectors between the CDI box and generator coil by squeezing the female and
reconnecting them-- I think that was where the problem was to begin with, I haven't
had
any problem since doing that. It has been dependable, and cold it usually
starts on the second pull with the choke on. At 4200 rpm and a 64 inch 2 blade
warp, I cruise at 50 mph. using around 2 gal/hr. in my FS1. It is a bit heavier
than the Cuyuna and 2SI that I had on my FS1, and uses slightly more fuel,
but it stays running!!! In all I am satisfied with it.

Hey Guys,
I fired up my 582 the other day and "top end" was rough....I figured it
was old fuel....I didn't have a decent hose to sipfon the fuel , so I pulled
the fuel line apart and drained most the fuel. I added the new fuel and with
a few primes it was running. I warmed it up to 140 degrees and then started to
raise the RPM's higher until I could test "top end".
It ran great , top end was smooth again.
Next day I loaded it on the trailer , packed all the gear, and while I was doing
my warm-up I couldn't get it to rev up , I noticed the fuel line going to
the rear carb wasn't pushing the fuel. and after the engine would die , I noticed
the fuel in the line would return to the fuel pump....
I'm getting a new rebuild kit for the Mikuni fuel pump.
Do any of you guys think it has anything to do with "Vapor Lock" .....I wouldn't
think so because of the run time the day before 10 - 15 min ......
and wouldn't you know it parts place is closed today...
Well, back to work on my Kolb. I'm still fabracating a 2cycle oil tank....which
was delayed because of the heat & humidity...

I bolted the shoulder harnesses to the upper engine mounts, up on the frame
where the pivots bolt through. Then I crossed the straps before they get to my
shoulders. I'll keep your e-mail address, and let you know when I post pics

Maybe you made enough compensating mistakes to achieve kolb nirvana.
Several years back an old-timer in the area had a really ratty pre-war
T-craft. If you stood back of it you could see a goodly twist in one wing.
Seems to me one of our listers who goes by the initials E.S. did some
flying in it. Later this now senior aviator told me that bird had a nasty
tendency to spin at stall. hmm, wonder who used to sign that rat off?

I used upholstered fiberglass bucket seats for a dune buggy, and it seems
like it'll be fine. Not too heavy and fairly comfy. I think it'll be
better with temper foam and a bit of lumbar support. Lar.

We use a cushion seat and back we got from on of those aeroplane
companies. It's not real thick but it comfortable. Don't recall which one
but I look at it next trip to the aeroport. Does the front edge of your
seat cut into the back of your thighs? When I ordered the kit I had Kolb
lower the bar about an inch on the front of the seat, helped a lot. I'm
not the only one that has complained about this.

Well....no The front bar does not bother me..I made a seat cusion with 2
squares of temper foam..one green and one blue...and a back pad of 1 layer
of blue. covered with denim. But it still is uncomfortable I tried one of
those fiberglass seats with a 5 gallon tank made on the back but it just
would not fit with out alot of trouble, and then would sit too high I think.
I have flown along time one of those and i was sure hoping it would
fit..solving my fuel prob and seat problem also...
I think the sling back angle is most of my problem...
