I bought two new gear legs from TNK for a Firefly to replace the ones on
my Firestar I but they are 4.5" longer than mine. Can I use the extra
lenght or should I cut to size?

I think I would call TNK and verify there the right part. The longer
length would place the wheels slightly further forward which I would think
would improve upon the nose over tenancy of the FireFly. Disadvantage is
it would make it sit higher would making getting in and out harder except
for those long legged string bean pilots.

That's called "Selective Blind-ness." :-) It has tie-ins with Murphy's
Law, and the old "can't see the forest for the trees" thing. My own
favorite, that I'm toooooo well acquainted with is what I like to call the
"Sweat Factor." If I see a problem coming up, and am unsure of what's going
to be involved, I'll worry and sweat for days - "how'm I gonna do this ??"
When the time comes, things just seem to go together. Maybe the
sub-conscious figured it out ?? If, on the other hand, you look at
something, and say, "Oh Yah, that'll be a snap, no problem," Look Out ! ! !
Murphy's Law will shift into high gear, and everthing will go wrong, and
it'll take 5 times as long as you expected - guaranteed. Ask me how I know.
In either case, you gotta put in your "Sweat Time." Been
There Lar. Do not Archive.
